Weekend Blog – the school garden and a safe Year 6 return

Morning everyone.

I hope you are well and having a great day.

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. Wow! Not only was the room full of love but the singing was fantastic. You never know what is going to happen in a Funky Friday Assembly so well done to the Year 5 pupils who led the assembly and looked after the Minnows. You were brilliant.

Congratulations to Felix, George, Lola, Millie, Archie, Darcey, Rosie and Mia who all received Gold Awards. It was a double whammy for Archie and Mia got her Gold Award for helping out in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 this week.

Congratulations also to Ronnie who was presented with an Oscar for just being him! Kind, caring, helpful, smiley and incredibly resilient when life throws you a few unpleasant surprises. It was a double whammy for Ronnie as he also received a Golden Ticket. Well done Ronnie.

The Year 6 pupils were away at Cobnor this week, but returned safely and clearly had an amazing time. They all looked suitably shattered and we will share a video montage of what they got up to very soon. A massive thank you to Miss Phillips, Mrs Bennett and Mrs Lamper who ensured the children remained safe and had a great time. As one parent said “Your time, energy and planning that has gone into this week has been appreciated by us all. We are very lucky to have such a supportive school with staff who put their pupils at the forefront of their minds.”

Thank you also to Zennor and her mum Gwenn who came and volunteered in the school gardens over the half term break. They worked like troupers for nearly five hours. They weeded and planted the whole front and one of the raised beds. Gwenn donated loads of beautiful plant stock; strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, and some ‘coastal plants’. Thank you both so much.

Finally, this came to my attention and although I have no dancing skills whatsoever – this is incredible and well worth watching:

Have a great weekend everyone.
