Weekend Blog 06.01.24 – Romeo, Juliet and Siam

Hello everyone.

Happy New Year!

The children have returned full of enthusiasm, ready to learn and very excited about the forthcoming Learning Journeys. They also like the new blue carpet that has started to be laid in the corridors.

As you know, there was no Funky Friday Assembly this week but please see below the achievements of the staff during Tuesday’s INSET Day. The focus was Design & Technology – an area that we are looking to develop further this year. The staff were presented with a range of problem-solving activities and they had to use their engineering skills to communicate, make decisions, refine, improve and produce a prototype.

Romeo & Juliet

Ocean Class have started analysing ‘Romeo & Juliet’ in their learning journey ‘Two Tribes’. Here are some photos of their drama session this week where they looked at the Prologue and Act 1.

Connie is back!

Connie is back this term to teach dance to every class. Photographs will be added to a later blog as each dance develops. Welcome back Connie!

Space – the Final Frontier

Coral Class had a pleasant surprise when they entered their classroom on Thursday. Mrs Bennett had arranged for them to experience a beautiful space-themed light show.

Maisie and the Willowfants

The children loved the visit from Suzie Aiken (Nala and Effie’s nanny) yesterday and really enjoyed listening to her read her book ‘Maisie and the Willowfants’. In fact they were mesmerised by the characters and thought the story was rather funny! They are very much looking forward to Suzie returning with her next book

My name is Siam

Thank you to Yvie (Year 5) who has donated a Monkey called Siam Na Bangkok to the school. Yvie met Siam in Thailand during her recent family holiday. Apparently Siam is 3 years old and is looking forward to being part of our school monkey family. I wonder which class will choose Siam first?!

Staffing Update

Rachel Noble joins us as a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant. She will be working with individuals and groups of children across the school. Welcome to the team Rachel.

And finally……we will be learning a new song next week. It is called ‘Renegades’ by X-Ambassadors. Here is the link:
