Special Educational Needs and Disability

Our SENDCo oversees the seven teaching assistants working at our school and coordinates support for all children needing that little bit of extra help. Most  support such as additional specialist teaching, group work and support programmes are delivered by trained staff within school. Other services such as physiotherapy are delivered by outside agencies.

Gemma Windham (Governor responsible for SEND) works with our SENDCo and reports regularly to the Governing Body.

We work very hard at Shoreham Beach School  to provide a stimulating, accessible curriculum for all children. We identify pupils with additional needs quickly and put careful support programmes in place to enable them to be  actively involved in their learning and experience success. If you have any concerns about your child’s needs please contact their class teacher in the first instance. West Sussex also provide a wealth of valuable information and support.  Please click on the ‘Local Offer’ link below to access their site.

We support and encourage independent learning and positive self-esteem and involve children, parents, and teachers in a productive working partnership. We also make full use of services available from the Learning Behaviour Teams, Autism, Social Communication Teams,  Educational Psychologist, and Health & Social Services.
