Weekend Blog 22.06.24 – Baby Newts, Froglets, Lizards and Pond Skaters

Hello everyone.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Funky Friday Assembly. As you know, anything can happen in a Funky Friday Assembly…..and it certainly did. I hope you enjoyed it. As one parent said “Love your assemblies. They are always so positive and fun!” Thank you. It’s always nice to hear positive comments.

OSCARS

Congratulations to Mira (Year3), Barry Croxon and James Gleeson (parents) on being presented with an Oscar each.

Mira is just lovely. She has learnt English so quickly since joining us earlier in the year and is thoroughly enjoying life in our school. She’s always singing and dancing at breaktime and lunchtime and is adored by her peers and class teacher. Mira is such a happy learner. Well done Mira.

Barry and James received Oscars for being fabulous parents of the school. Not only have they built the fence to the Early Years wildlife garden, they also created our pond (which is adored and enjoyed by everyone). Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication gentlemen. The support you have shown the school is greatly appreciated. Their next project is the fire pit in our soon to be forest school area.  James drove off before having his photograph taken and Barry was in London having watched a Foo Fighters gig (we Facetimed him). Thank you to Lily and Wilf for collecting the Oscar on behalf of your dad.

GOLD AWARDS

Congratulations to Ronnie, Maisie, Oakley, Daisy, Stanley and Sienna on receiving Gold Awards this week.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Golden Ticketers this week are: Arisa-Mai and Greta (Minnows), Payton and Betty (Seashells), George and Enzo (Starfish), Hugo and Delilah (Dolphins), Lilah-Belle and Sonny (Lighthouse), Desmond and Emily (Coral), Flo and Alba (Ocean). Well done all of you.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Coral Class achieved the best attendance this week with 100%.

GAMES CLUB

Games Club has started again. Tuesday and Friday lunchtimes in Year 6 with Mrs Bennett and Mrs Crowhurst.

MILLIE’S FUNDRAISING

It impresses me greatly how much our pupils enjoy raising money for different charities. Millie (Year 2) spent an afternoon raising money for Alzheimer’s society selling sweets and taking donations at the entrance of their charity football match. Well done Millie. I hope you raised lots of money for the charity.

THEO AND LILY

Last weekend Theo and Lily represented Shoreham College at a swimming competition in Crawley. They bounced into school and proudly showed me their medals. Check out the photographs in Harley’s Corner.

EDF – THE BIG GARDEN CLEAN UP

The EDF Team came and cleared our garden areas. They filled up 16 x sacks and filled the whole of the large recycling bin in the car park! The team had a great time and did a fantastic job. They can’t wait to come back and help again next year. Thank you to Louisa Ewing (Millie’s mum) for organising the clear up.

POND LIFE

Baby Newts, Froglets, Lizards and Pond Skaters were all spotted this week as more groups of children were taken to enjoy our wonderful pond.

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. This week I had the pleasure of hearing about Theo and Lily’s swimming success. I thoroughly enjoyed looking closely at their medals. Are you enjoying the Euros Grandma? I think England could do with you playing in midfield.”

FUN IN MINNOWS

This week Minnows had fun creating their own minibeasts, building an assault course, playing with numbers and making friends with snails.

INSET DAY

Don’t forget that next Friday is an INSET Day. We will still have a celebration assembly – it will be a Thrilling Thursday Assembly.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
