It may have been the final week of term but it’s been incredibly busy.
A RING OF ROSES

Our Year 6 pupils also met one of the original West End cast this week Rob Piatt.
INFLATABLE TREAT
The children enjoyed the whole school treat. Thankfully every child got to have a go on the inflatable before it started raining! Here are a few photographs:
MAISIE’S FUNDRAISING
In total 25 children got involved with their grown-ups to cycle, scoot or run the route which was around 6 miles. Most children were from Shoreham Beach Primary School from Minnows, Seashells and Starfish!With the sun shining, they all set off at 9am from Beach Green, some joining at Widewater, and had a well-deserved ice cream/drinks stop half way when they reached Lancing. They all made it back to Shoreham by midday. They have all helped to smash the fundraising goal of £1,000, with current total close to £1,300!This will make such a huge difference to the Seaford Down’s Syndrome and Special Needs Support Group.Minnow Maisie who was cycling said: “It was fantastic to do such a long cycle with all my friends on Pip’s birthday…and having ice cream and playing in the park! Thank you to everyone who came!”
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Minnows and Starfish Class were the last classes to be awarded a monkey for their excellent attendance figures. Here are their photos:
YEAR 4 BEACH TRIP
Year 4 enjoyed their trip to the beach this week. They produced large scale art representing William Kamkwamba’s amazing windmill.
ELLA’S NETBALL SUCCESS
Ella proudly shared her Trophy and netball photos with me this week. She was presented with the Coach’s Player of the Year award. Well done Ella.
YEAR 2 STATEMENT ART
Inspired by Es Devlin’s ‘Please Come Home’ – a plea to conserve urban biodiversity in London – Year 2 have collectively created their own statement art. It is a plea to put a halt to another biodiversity issue – the illegal ivory trade. The children wanted to provoke a reaction. What is your reaction?
YEAR 5 CAKE SALE
Year five worked in teams to start a new company, present their calculations and bid for funding from the Dragons’ Den. They worked out profits, costings, rent per square metre, salaries, percentages and then some of the companies sold cakes in aid of the British Red Cross, raising over £90
LET’S BOUNCE
Minnows enjoyed the inflatable castle and soft play activities provided by Miss Mann. This was part of their party afternoon. Parents were invited to come and observe the fun. It was followed by a tea party.
SPORTS WEEK
HARLEY’S CORNER
“Hello everyone. This week I got to experience a fire drill. It was really impressive. The children walked out sensibly and in silence. All the doors shut. They then put their hand up when the register was called. When the all-clear had been given, they walked back in. Hey Grandma – I’ll tell you all about it on Sunday!”
POST BOX TOPPER
Thank you to Mrs Hampton and the knitting club for another post box topper. A special mention to Beryl, Sue and Mrs Loftus (who shared her Post Box Topper wisdom).
MRS LAMPER’S LEGO CHALLENGE
Eryn, Kalindi, Rosie, Felicity and Bow were keen to take up Mrs Lamper’s Lego Challenge. The models they selected to make are for children aged 14+ but Eryn, Kalinda, Rosie (and Bow) all overcame the challenge of using tiny Lego pieces and produced some very impressive models.
INTRODUCING ALBA ON THE DRUMS
This has been a great year for Alba. Not only did she do well in her SATs and sang a solo in the Year 6 production – she has also been learning to play drums.
GOODBYE TO OUR LOVELY YEAR 6
Over the last two weeks they have enjoyed bowling, pizza, silly games and a party at the Harbour Club. Good luck each and every one of you. You are amazing!
GOODBYE TO MR WINSTONE AND MRS SHUKLA

To all the children, parents and carers whom I have got to know over the 24 years at Shoreham Beach School I would like to say a massive thank you. I have loved my time at the school – it always felt like home, even when I did my first teaching practice here in 1999! I plan to stay in touch so I’m sure you’ll see me popping in from time to time as I will miss everyone and finding out how all the pupils are getting on. A message from Mr Winstone:
I joined Shoreham Beach Primary in 2008 as their new Assistant Head. After, 16 years I am finally leaving. I have to say, it has been a tremendous 16 years. Shoreham Beach is indeed a fantastic school – I am often touched by the care and dedication of the staff. Despite the many years of teaching, I still love being in the classroom. I will miss the teaching, the awe and wonder as children become enthused, but probably more what the children say and ask,“Why do you say that the fire alarms are going off, when actually they are coming on?” However, after 35 years of teaching, it’s time to write a new chapter. I hope not to be a stranger. A huge “thank you” to the staff, to you the parents and of course to the children.
