Weekend Blog 07.09.24 – Ellia shines in her first week back

Hello everyone.

Welcome back. I hope you had an exciting summer break. An extra warm welcome to the new pupils who have joined us and their family members. It was particularly lovely to see the new Minnows having fun and engaging in a range of different activities with Mrs Thomas, Miss Young and Miss Mann.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined the celebrations this week. It was a bit of a mad occasion and I have to say a huge thank you to Mr Joseph, Mr Strudwick and Mr Collinson for adding a bit of sparkle to ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’. To quote Mr Joseph “I have never seen an assembly like it!”

OSCAR

Congratulations to the amazing Ellia (Year 3) on being presented with an Oscar for the immense bravery, maturity, calmness and care she showed when her little brother Finn hurt himself in the last week of the summer holidays.

Finn tripped and hit his head on a railing. He got a deep cut on his forehead which immediately produced a huge amount of blood. Ellia not only remained calm, but she also found a tissue to help with the bleeding, helped with the first aid kit and took it upon herself to find his teddy to keep him calm. Once at A&E she sang Finn nursery rhymes and showed him books. Even though it was really late and she was very tired, she refused to leave his side until she knew he was okay. What a superstar! Well done Ellia. We are all very proud of you.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Golden Ticketers this week are: Polly and Tommy (Seashells), Payton and Cass (Starfish), Bella and Finn (Dolphin), Howl and Leandro (Lighthouse), Tom and Iris (Coral), Cassidy and Demi (Ocean). Well done to you all.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Ocean Class with 98.8%. They have chosen to have Jasmine the Monkey for the week.

MINIBUS

Some of the children (and staff) were concerned that our minibus has disappeared. Don’t panic! We have a new minibus arriving this month ready to take you out on trips and to sports events.

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. I had a dogtastic summer break but I am so pleased to be back in school. I’ve seen loads of adults and children, and I even met a couple of the new Minnows. Now, whilst I was on holiday, I watched some of my favourite cartoon dogs. Can you name them? Grandma – speak to you on Sunday.”

YEAR 5 & 6 PUPIL RESPONSIBILITIES

The teachers and subject leaders are about to introduce new responsibility posts for Year 5 & 6 pupils. Watch out for details of the following opportunities: ECO Warriors, Librarians, Sports Leaders, STEM Leaders and Digital Leaders.

WELCOME MEETINGS FOR PARENTS

You will shortly be invited to a Welcome Meeting with your child’s teacher. They will be offering two time slots to select from (2.30pm and 3.30pm). The dates will be confirmed next week. These meetings will give you a chance to get to know your child’s teacher and find out about some of the things that have been planned for this year. There will be the opportunity for you to ask questions, but if you need a longer conversation, then that will have to be arranged for a different time.
