Weekend Blog 14.09.24 – Explorasaurus Time

Hello everyone.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us in our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. It is always fun and full of surprises. One pupil said “My favourite bit was when we phoned Mrs Thomas in hospital. She was laughing and crying.” Another added “Aurelia was very funny.” I’m pleased everyone enjoys our Funky Friday Assembly.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Juliette (Year 4) on being presented with an Oscar.

Juliette is enthusiastic, inquisitive, hardworking, kind and very helpful. She always produces writing of the highest standard using exciting vocabulary choices. She is patient when they explain learning to her peers. Juliette smiles on arrival at school each day and always gives her little sister a wave. Juliette is one of the quietest pupils in the school and is so kind and caring to everyone. Well done Juliette.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Aurelia and Thea (Seashells), Arun and Freya (Starfish), Didi and Arthur (Dolphins), (Lighthouse), Hannah and Wilbur (Coral), Dennis and Lily (Ocean). Well done Golden Ticketers.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Dolphins Class with 99.3%. They chose to have Siam for the week. Let’s hope he behaves better than Jasmine did last week in Ocean Class.

LEARNING JOURNEY OVERVIEWS

Learning Journey Overviews and Home Learning Menus have been added to the school website. Make sure you check out what your child is learning this half term. There are some deep questions to consider linked to each Learning Journey.

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. It’s been a busy week and already I am enjoying the work that children are sharing with me. Here are a couple of photographs of me with Reuben, Herbie and Rosa. Met a lovely cat on one of my walks Grandma – although apparently I missed the wall lizards as I was too busy sniffing things.”

WELCOME MEETINGS

You should have now received a PING inviting you to a ‘Welcome Meeting’ with your child’s teacher. This will give you a chance to meet your child’s teacher, hear what has been planned for the year and ask any questions.

MINNOWS

Our lovely Minnows have settled in very well. Here is a photograph of them in the Haven.

CHESS CLUB

I am very excited at the prospect of Chess Club starting next week for Years 4 – 6. Twenty players have signed up. Have we got a Grandmaster amongst us?!

THINK-A-SAURUS, SOLV-A-SAURUS AND EXPLOR-A-SAURUS TIME

Year 1 had their first exploring time sessions this week! They consisted of exploring fossils by writing about them, drawing them, making rubbings of them. They also created their own dinosaur lands with volcanoes and lakes. Some children chose to sort and draw dinosaurs whilst others decided to use their new ICT skills to colour a Stegosaurus on the computer.

SPACES FOR NEW PUPILS

We have had a number of parents phoning us asking if we have spaces in our classes for new children. We do! We have spaces in Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4.

Our open mornings for children starting school in September 2025 will be taking place on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th November.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
