Weekend Blog 05.10.24 – Art, Poetry and a visit from the Police

Hello everyone.

With all the talk of Oasis reforming, I thought I would share that on this day in 1962 – the Beatles released their first single ‘Love Me Do’. It was the record that started the Fab Four’s amazing musical journey. They influenced so many artists and styles of music…….including Oasis.

Here’s a little reminder:

More learning moments captured by Mrs Noble…..

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. How lovely to have Logan (former Shoreham Beach pupil) play bass guitar on the songs. He is such a good musician and such a lovely boy.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Poppy (Year 5) on being presented with an Oscar this week. Mrs Noble nominated her and said the following: “I would like to nominate Poppy for an Oscar because she is simply amazing with the most infectious smile. It’s been incredible watching her confidence grow every day. Even when things are challenging, she shows great resilience and is so kind to everybody she meets. Poppy I’m so proud – you are amazing.“ It was a double whammy for Poppy who also received a Golden Ticket. Well done Poppy.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Maeva and Otto (Seashells), Axel and Betty (Starfish), Reuben and Bear (Dolphins), Elsa and Remy (Lighthouse), Poppy and Mia-Rose (Coral), Reuben (Ocean). Well done to you all.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Ocean Class. They chose to have Vesper for the week.

ONLINE SAFETY

PC Chris Marsden was in school this week talking to Years 2-6 about online safety. He also spoke to Year 6 about crime and punishment linked to their learning journey.

PIZZA OVEN

Barry and James are continuing to build the platform for our pizza oven. We are almost ready to get the finished oven in place and start our Forest School club with Miss Mann and Miles’ mum. Cleo is certainly impressed with how it is coming along.

OUR JUNIOR LEADERS

The children received their badges this week and looked very proud. I had my first meeting with the ECO Warriors and they are certainly taking their role very seriously.

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. Every morning when I arrive at school, Dixie takes me around the classes to say good morning to the staff. I love it! Thanks Dixie. This week I also mingled with Ella and Millie as they showed me their swimming medals. Grandma – why are Dalmatians no good at playing hide and seek? Because they are always spotted.”

DISPLAY

These displays caught my eye this week. Just look at the shading by Year 2.

MOBILE PHONES

I’m sure that you aware of the current local and national interest in the risk that mobile phones pose to children’s mental health and online safety. One of the parents has formed a Shoreham Beach Primary School WhatsApp group which is part of a wider West Sussex group.

NATIONAL POETRY DAY

On Thursday it was National Poetry Day. Here are some examples of poems created by the children and a couple of photos of children performing some poetry:

HARVEST

On Monday we have our whole school Harvest Assembly and we are inviting you to send non-perishable food items in with your child. All items received will be placed on our Harvest Table and donated to Shoreham Foodbank. Thank you in advance.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
