Weekend Blog 26.10.24 – End of Autumn 1

Hello everyone.

ON THIS DAY…..

On this day in music history – Queen and David Bowie released the song ‘Under Pressure’ in the UK. It was recorded in September 1981 at Mountain Studios, near where David Bowie was living at the time. He ended up popping into the studio and jamming with Queen. It became a huge number one hit.

CAPTURED

More fabulous learning moments captured by Mrs Noble and Mrs Paterson:

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. A special mention to Year 5 pupils Iris, Jenny and Lilah-Belle who stepped in and led the assembly in the absence of our usual Year 6 crew.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Polly (Year 1) on being presented with an Oscar.

Since starting in Seashells Class, she has put 100% effort into her learning.  Mrs Crowhurst and Dixie love reading her writing. She’s written so much about Mary Anning and Dinosaurs!  With her big smile and readiness to learn she’s an absolute asset to have in the class. Polly – you are a star!

GOLD AWARD

We have our first Gold Award recipient of the year. Congratulations to Ella who proudly accepted her certificate for getting five mentions in the Log Book.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Talena and Frankie (Minnows), Ronnie and Sienna (Seashells), Wilf and Edden (Starfish), Lydia and Ellia (Dolphins), Orla and Ella (Lighthouse), Etienne and Millie (Coral).

Well done to you all.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Starfish Class with 99.1%. Wilf and Edden from Starfish Class chose to have Siam for the week after half term.

YEAR 1 DINOSAUR VISIT

Seashells Class had a T-Rex visit them on Thursday. Unfortunately, he was very sad. He didn’t have any family and was feeling rather lonely. The children told him that as he was more closely related to birds than reptiles so he should go and find some chickens because they are his closest living relative! Thankfully, this cheered him up.

YEAR 5 & 6 BOYS FOOTBALL

Congratulations to those Year 4 and 5 boys who played in the Year 5 and 6 Football tournaments on Wednesday at Shoreham Academy. Although they were up against taller and physically stronger boys, they did themselves proud. Thank you to Mr Strudwick and Mrs Noble for coaching them on the day. Well done all of you.

ELSA ON THE PIANO

Elsa recently played the piano at Brighton train station, performing in front of a crowd of strangers. It was a great experience for her, and her family are very proud of how much her confidence and skills have grown with all the practice she’s put in.

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. This week I had the pleasure of hearing ‘the song ‘War is a Wager’ by the band The Quavers. The band members then popped in and said hello. Nala, Jenny, Maxine and Iris can be seen in the photograph below with their manager Harvey. I’ll sing it to you tomorrow, Grandma.”

WE ARE SAILING, WE ARE SAILING……..

For the last three days, our Year 6 pupils have been enjoying themselves at Cobnor Activity Centre. Thank you to Mr Collinson, Mrs Bennett and Mrs Hampton for making sure they had a fabulous (and safe) time. An extra thank you for sending regular PING updates to parents. It was greatly appreciated.

Here are a few photographs:
