Weekend Blog 08.02.25 – Under the Sea

Hello everyone.

In preparation for Mr Collinson’s second set of maths workshops on Monday, here is a quick maths related question for you:

What do you notice about these two phrases ‘two plus eleven’ and ‘one plus twelve’? I’ll put the answer at the bottom of the blog.

CAPTURED

More learning moments captured by Mrs Noble:

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended this week’s Funky Friday Assembly. To share a quote from one parent: “Assembly was brilliant. One of the best I’ve seen. Thank you.” No……thank YOU!

OSCARS

Congratulations to Damien (Year 6) and Lily (Year 6) on being presented with Oscars.

Damien received his Oscar for his kindness towards younger children. He loves the responsibility of looking after the children in Minnows and is always so caring towards them. The children love having Damien helping in their classroom. Well done Damien.

Lily is kind, caring, sensible, trustworthy, polite, mature, intelligent and an absolute superstar! She is so helpful and can always be relied upon to sort out any situation at break time and lunch time. We think she would make a super teacher.  Well done Lily.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Golden Ticketers this week are Skyla and Parker (Minnows), Alicija and Greta (Seashells), Alice and Hunter (Starfish), Nimitan and Indie (Dolphins), Daisy and Howl (Lighthouse), Logan and Mia-Rose (Coral), Katie and Archie (Ocean). Well done to you all.

GOLD AWARDS

Congratulations to Polly, Frankie, Elara and Juliette on receiving Gold Awards this week for five mentions in the Log Book.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Congratulations to Coral Class with 97.1% attendance. The Monkey Randomiser chose Vesper for them.

UNDER THE SEA

Seashells visited Brighton Sealife Centre this week as part of their learning journey ‘Treasures Under the Sea’. They had an amazing time and were very well behaved. To see the awe and wonder on their faces when faced with real life sharks and turtles, was priceless. A big thank you to all the adults who came to support the class.

LET’S DANCE

Last Sunday a few of our pupils took part in the Supreme Dance Competition in Midhurst. They were representing Brooks Dance Academy in Lancing, performing various solos, duets and group dances. They achieved some fantastic results!

The girls involved were: Cassidy & Katie (Year 6) Poppy & Lola (Year 5), Rosa & Amelie (Year 4) and Freya (Year 2)

Cassidy won the Junior Dance challenge, where she had to learn a dance routine in 15 minutes then compete against all other dancers age 9-11. She also placed 3rd for her character solo and 3rd place for her Jazz duet.

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. It’s been a busy week in school but I was so pleased to spend time with the Oscar winners Damien and Lily. We hung around in the under water tunnel with some Minnows. It was FIN-TASTIC Grandma.”

GOAL!

Well done to the Year 3 and 4 pupils who represented the school in football this week against Swiss Gardens. It was a tightly fought match with some slick passing and crunching tackles.
