Weekend Blog 17.05.2025 – Well Done Year 6

Hello everyone.

Well done to Ocean Class who completed their Year 6 SATs this week. Every Year 6 pupil nationally is involved in the tests and it can be incredibly stressful. However, every one of our Year 6 pupils remained focused and tried their best. As a result of their excellent attitude to learning – they were presented with an Oscar.

Thank you to all the staff who made sure that the children were calm and prepared. A special mention to Mrs Paterson and Mr Strugnell for organising the daily SATs breakfast. Once again, Mr Strugnell’s Scrambled Eggs went down a treat with children and staff.

FACTOID OF THE WEEK

The oldest living land animal on earth is a 192-year-old tortoise named Jonathan

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from this week captured by Mrs Noble and Mrs Paterson:

FUNKY FRIDAY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Funky Friday assembly yesterday. It is always lovely to see so many smiley faces. Thank you for your continued support.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Iris (Year 5).

Iris shines – not only because of a sharp and curious intellect, but also because of a heart full of kindness. Always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh, she makes others feel seen and supported. It’s the beautiful combination of compassion, cleverness, generosity, and joy that makes Iris truly extraordinary. She is simply the greatest role model one could ask for, and often spots Mr Strudwick’s intentional errors. He says “It is an absolute pleasure to have worked with Iris and I know she is going to have a bright and brilliant future!”

It was a ‘triple whammy’ for Iris who also received a Gold Award and was part of the Happy Birthday Band. This is the first time ever that someone has experienced a triple whammy. Well done, Iris

GOLD AWARDS

Congratulations to the following lovely children on being presented with Gold Awards: Hugo, Hannah, Iris, Oakley, Tom, Maxine, Cadence and Theo

GOLDEN TICKETS

Golden Ticketers this week are: Lauren and Grace (Minnows), Maeva and Dominion (Seashells), Payton and Jeta (Starfish), Arthur (Dolphins), Leandro and Orla (Lighthouse), Hannah and Lilah-Belle (Coral), Hetty, Reuben and Archie (Ocean)

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Ocean Class with 100%. The randomiser selected Monkey for them to have for a week.

EXPLORERS

Fairy doors and pizza time!

SWIMMING SUCCESS

On Saturday 10th May, Lily, Ella, Ollie and Theo went to The Spectrum Centre in Guilford to represent Shoreham Beach Primary in the final 16 small schools in South East of England (which they recently qualified for through the County Gala).

They gave it everything they had and have now been rank 7th fastest in Freestyle Relay and 9th fastest in Mixed Relay out of all small schools in the South East of England!

Such a brilliant achievement for any school, but we were also the only state school, who had made it to that stage of the competition. Well done!
