Weekend Blog 14.06.25 – Bee Happy

Hello everyone.

Our school pond and surrounding plants are attracting some lovely insects and wildlife at the moment. This week there were several happy bees and butterflies enjoying themselves.

SUMMER BUILDING WORKS

Just to update you on the building works planned for this summer.

As you know, we are in desperate need for the artificial grass and fencing to be replaced. We have now had confirmation from WSCC that these works will definitely be happening over the summer break. Unfortunately, this will mean that VIM Camps will not be able to operate a summer club here at Shoreham Beach Primary. Do check out their website to see where they will be offering a summer holiday club.

In addition, the internal adaptations will be taking place to accommodate our new nursery provision. Our intention is for the nursery to operate from the current Year 1 classroom with qualified nursery staff (a maximum of 5 x Year 2 children, 16 x Year 3/4 children) with sole use of the Haven (middle part of the school) and the EYFS outside area at agreed times. The current staffroom and two adjacent rooms will become a new classroom and the staffroom will relocate to the current spare room in the back corner of the school. These adaptations will not affect the outside area or learning space for the rest of the school.

FACTOID OF THE WEEK

Beetroot contains the same feel-good chemicals found in chocolate.

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments in and around school captured by Mrs Noble:

FUNKY FRIDAY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Funky Friday assembly yesterday. A special thank you to Dolphins Class for bravely starting the assembly with their version of ‘Paradise’ by Coldplay.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Didi on being presented with an Oscar. Didi comes into school each day with a big smile on her face, ready to learn and full of enthusiasm. She always tries her very best in everything she does, and she produces work of a consistently high standard. Didi’s hand regularly shoots up in class with great ideas and she soaks up new information like a sponge! This year, Didi has also started learning the flute and she is now playing with amazing confidence and skill. Well done Didi – you are a star!

GOLD AWARDS

Congratulations to Ayanna and Axel on receiving Gold Awards this week. It was a double whammy for Ayanna who also received a Golden Ticket.

GOLDEN TICKETS

Golden Ticketers this week are: Ayanna and Emilija (Minnows), Sedra and Alicija (Seashells), Arun and Benji (Starfish), Flossy and Ivy (Dolphins), Amelie and Macey (Lighthouse), Maxine and Lilah-Belle (Coral), Rosie and Jesse (Ocean)

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Coral Class with a fabulous 99.1%. The randomiser selected Jasmine for them to have for a week.

TAKE OFF

Year 1 enjoyed their trip to the airport as part of our ‘Take Flight’ learning journey. It was a great experience. The children were very well behaved and listened respectfully to the volunteers who showed them round. They asked interesting questions, learnt lots of facts and saw an abundance of planes and helicopters. Many thanks to all the adults who helped out and made the trip possible.

EXPLORERS

Thank you to Miss Mann for giving our children such an exciting time in Explorers Club.

GYMNASTICS

Hannah, Ella and Millie (all Year 5) entered a gymnastics competition last weekend in Uckfield.  They competed in the floor routine and vault section. There were 16 children in their category and they came 5th (Hannah), 6th (Ella) and 7th (Millie) – all scored within 0.5 of each other. They were amazing (as always) and everyone is super proud of them.

TASH ACHIEVES SILVER

Last Sunday, Tash (Year 2) took part in the Uckfield Floor and Vault Gymnastics Competition. It was her first competition and although she was quite nervous, she performed really well and won a silver medal. Below is a picture of her showing Harley her medal. Well done Tash.

ARCHIE ACHIEVES GOLD

Congratulations to Archie (Year 6) who achieved Gold in the U13 Discus Throw Competition. I am certain the Olympic Committee will be on the phone very soon to sign him up for Team GB. Well done Arch.

NETBALL

Well done to our netball team, who thoroughly enjoyed playing against Swiss Gardens Primary this week.

WHEN SATURDAY COMES

On the 9th & 10th July, Year 6 will be performing their musical play ‘When Saturday Comes’. If you would like to see it, please get in touch with a Year 6 parent and they can include you in their ticket order. You really won’t want to miss it – it’s going to be quite fabulous.
