Hello everyone.
It’s been an incredibly hot week. Thank you for making sure your child has a sun hat and sunscreen.
Because of the heat, children have slowed down and have spent some time looking at insects, wall lizards, bees, butterflies, pondlife and things that are easily missed when you are rushing around. Take time to look.
FACTOID OF THE WEEK
Butterflies taste with their feet.

Here are some learning moments in and around school, captured by Mrs Noble:
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Funky Friday assembly yesterday. It was certainly a hot and mad one!
OSCARS
Congratulations to Alice (Year 3) and Naomi (Year 3)
Alice was nominated for an Oscar for her love of learning. She is naturally curious, and as such, her mind is always on the go. She has impressive general knowledge, which she readily applies across various areas of the curriculum. Sometimes she is like a human Google! She is also a lovely, smiley, friendly child who brings a positive energy to those around her. This was seen at the recent guitar showcase with the clear enjoyment she showed when performing! Alice is also a Beaver Lodge Leader, where she helps guide and support others with patience and enthusiasm. Alice, you are a superstar!
Naomi arrives at school each day ready to learn, with a calm and focused attitude. She is a quiet and thoughtful presence, kind to those around her, and although she is gentle in nature, she quietly pushes herself to do her very best in everything she takes on. As the year has gone on, her artwork has become more and more outstanding. She is an amazing drawer and painter, with an eye for detail and creativity. She joined knitting club at the start of this term and has already impressed Mrs Hampton by how skilfully she created a toy dog. She has even taken up some new skills and hobbies to do independently, including park run, gymnastics and knitting. At home, she’s also proactive and conscientious, and uses her love of reading, writing and drawing to entertain her and her siblings. Well done Naomi.

LIFEBOAT FUNDRAISING WITH THE LINTERNS
Last weekend the Lintern Family were involved in the Open Day for the Shoreham lifeboat. Both Alice and Freddie wanted to make cakes to sell to help raise money. They spent most of Saturday baking a large amount of different cakes. There was lemon drizzle, Victoria sponge and Alice made her specialty, blueberry muffins and Fred his chocolate brownies. They were all delicious! The Shoreham crew and a visiting crew from Littlehampton enjoyed the cakes as part of their lunch and came over to tell the children it was the best Lemon drizzle they had ever had! At one point, was found on lower deck of the lifeboat helping out with a tour by telling a family all about the inner workings of the boat. It was a massive day for them finishing at 5 after helping clear up and put the boats back to bed. They both worked really hard and had lots of fun. During the day they manned the stall managing to sell £60 worth of cake.
ALICIJA’S DANCE SUCCESS
Over the past 2 weeks, Alicija and her ‘Matilda’ dance group (including 2 other fantastically talented Shoreham Beach students in Ella & Bella) competed at the Destination Dance International Finals where they won 1st place in their category with a Platinum Award.
This past weekend Alicija rounded off her first year as a competitive gymnast and final competition for I-Star Dance Academy in style as she put in her best performance yet and won her 11th medal of the year as she came home with a silver medal and a special judges award! Well done Alicija.
MINNOWS MAGIC
SWIMMING LIKE A FISH
Lua (Year 3) swam 1100metres in her swimming session this week. That’s 110 pools non-stop.

WHEN SATURDAY COMES
On Monday this week (the hottest day of the year so far) our Year 6 pupils recorded the songs from their forthcoming production ‘When Saturday Comes’. The vocals for all eight songs were laid down using professional recording equipment in a little room in the school. The children were fabulous! They approached the recording with confidence and discipline. I will let you know when the songs are available to listen to on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music etc. I think you’ll be impressed.
NURSERY UPDATE
We are almost there! We are still aiming for an Autumn opening but need to ensure everything is ready. We have received approval from WSCC and the final stages of setting up a nursery are almost complete. Nursery name suggestions have been offered by the children, we are about to advertise for appropriately qualified staff and registration details are being finalised. This is so exciting for the school and the community.
If you are interested in registering a place for your child (aged 2 and above), please email the school office and they will send you a registration form as soon as the details have been finalised with the Governors.
Have a lovely weekend.
