Welcome back everyone.

The children have settled in well and are enjoying their learning. Welcome to all the new families and children who have joined our SB family.

This year, we will be focusing on thinking skills. We want our children to be curious and develop their questioning skills. We will be teaching children how to think, not what to think. We have a big emphasis on effective questioning from the teacher, giving the chance for children to take their ideas and thoughts to a deeper level.

BUILDING WORKS

Although many changes have happened over the last five years, we continue to look at how we can improve the school, both inside and out.

The summer building works have successfully been completed. We have new artificial grass and perimeter fencing, a new staffroom, a new Year 6 classroom and a dedicated Nursery classroom. I am currently in discussions with WSCC for the Cheal Close fence and gates to be replaced over the half term break and we are waiting for the first set of drawings to extend the front entrance to the school – making it more welcoming to parents and visitors.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

We have some new friends joining us as attendance rewards this year. They will be introduced in next week’s Funky Friday Assembly. They are lovely!

STAFFING UPDATE

A big “welcome back” to Lisa Lamper and Terri Hall who are officially back with us. Terri re-joins the team as the Teaching Assistant in Minnows and Lisa joins the SEN Team for two mornings a week. We also say welcome back to Amanda Dixon (Dixie) who joins our Nursery team as Deputy Nursery Manager and to Danaka Watson who will be the Teaching Assistant in Year 1.

NURSERY UPDATE

Our Nursery is almost ready. We are just waiting for the final pieces of outside equipment to arrive and we will be ready to open on Monday 22nd September. Emily (Nursery Manager) and Dixie (Deputy Nursery Manager) are very excited to meet our new children. If you have booked a place for your child to start with us, please come and join us for our grand opening at 2pm on Friday 19th September. Alternatively, pop in after school on the same day.
