Hello everyone.
This time of year is always a busy one in school when all the pieces need to be put in place for a successful year ahead. This week felt really positive. There were lots of smiles, and it’s always lovely to have a Funky Friday Assembly to help us finish the week and step into the weekend.
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the parents and grandparents who attended our first Funky Friday Assembly of this academic year. You’ll be pleased to know that Mrs Bennett has been found alive and well.
Thank you to our special guest – Craig the guitar teacher. If your child is keen on learning the guitar, please contact Craig directly: [email protected]
Sad news everyone……..as you may have heard, Oasis supported Mr Strudwick on his highly successful triangle tour this summer and his management company have informed us that unfortunately, due to legal reasons, he is not allowed to play the triangle in Funky Friday Assembly any more. May we take this opportunity to thank Mr Strudwick for many memorable triangle moments over the past 12 months. We wish him all the best. I know there are now many children wanting to take up triangle lessons.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Who let the dogs out?
Randall, Pippa, Zeus, Derek and Little Harley joined our Shoreham Beach family this week. They have teamed up with Crow (who is pretending to be a dog) in the hope of getting selected by the class with the best attendance.
Congratulations to Dolphins Class who achieved 100% this week. The Attendance Randomiser selected Little Harley for them to look after for a week.
YEAR 5 TRIP TO BRIGHTON
On Wednesday, Coral Class were evacuated on a train to Downs Junior School and spent the morning in an Anderson Shelter and underground bunkers. They had a fabulous time.
HOW BIG IS A MILLION?
This week, Ocean Class were discussing how big a million is. This is what they calculated:
A million Old Bailey Blind Justice statues laying head to toe would equal the distance from Shoreham Beach to Northern Spain (or Western Portugal)
A million steps would get you from Shoreham to the Highlands in Scotland
A million Brighton & Hove Albion football fans would fill 31 Amex stadiums
A million water bottles (the same height as Enoch’s) would be the same as 600 Eiffel Towers
Others investigated how many whales would equal a million green peas in weight, how far a million cartwheels would get you, how old would you be if you lived a million days and how tall would a million Harveys be.
HARLEY TALK
A message from Harley Bear:
NAOMI and DIDI
Congratulations to Naomi (Year 4) for achieving the Level 5 Wickers gold level gymnastic award.
Congratulations to Didi (Year 4) who passed her level 8 Wickers gymnastics exam and achieved silver standard.
LIBRARY CHALLENGE
Well done to those children who took up the library challenge.
NURSERY UPDATE
The countdown is on to the opening of our nursery. It is looking fantastic and the pieces are nearly all in place. I hope the children and families joining us are as excited as we are.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
