Happy Saturday.
Autumn is here. The leaves are falling and it’s a great time to enjoy those cold days with bright sunshine. Our Nursery certainly enjoyed exploring the school grounds looking for signs of Autumn this week.
Mrs Lamper knows that I love inspirational and thought-provoking quotes. She recently gave me with a book of quotes by David Bowie as a present. I thought I would share this one: “Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming.” The power of music.
FREYA AND THE SMARTIES BOX
Thank you to Freya (Year 3) who kindly presented me with a box of Smarties because “the lighthouse on the back looks like the lighthouse on our logo”. I love it. Thank you Freya.
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. I hope it put a smile on your face ready for the weekend.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments in and around school, captured by Mrs Noble:
OSCARS
Congratulations to Raia (Year 2) and Felicity (Year 3) on being presented with an Oscar each.
Fliss received her Oscar for being kind, attentive, polite, eager to learn and for her positive attitude. It is very clear she genuinely enjoys learning. Fliss is always incredibly caring and empathetic at home towards her sister and mum. She is also passionate about the environment and has also recently started piano lessons, which she loves and happily practises almost daily. She is a wonderful pupil.
Raia is always focused and thoughtful, always trying their hardest to make progress. This is true in all our subjects, from maths to PE and English to Geography. Raia is always willing to share her ideas and ask excellent questions. She is kind, friendly, helpful, caring, determined and resilient. From the moment she arrives at school until the moment she leaves, Raia is a pleasure to be around. Mr Collinson says “I feel very lucky that I get to teach Raia!”.

HARLEY TALK
A message from Harley Bear:
LINCOLN AND HIS RUGBY TOURNAMENT
Lincoln took part in his first ever full contact rugby tournament. The first match, was bit of a shock for him. He suffered a nasty injury, from being studded by another player (accidentally). After receiving treatment and encouragement, from both dad and his teammates. He knuckled down and got on with business. His tackling was superb, making lots of try saving tackles. He also managed to make a lot of great successful runs and passes. He was extremely brave and courageous.
More importantly, he demonstrated sportsmanship towards the opposition players and for his own team mates. If he tackled someone, or someone was tackled and hurt. Lincoln was first to go over and offer them a supporting hand back up. Well done Lincoln.
ELLA MAY AND HER READING
Ella May achieved Gold Level in her reading doctor programme.
POLLY AND HER THEATRE GROUP
Polly (y5) has joined a theatre group and is taking part in dance, acting and singing. She has only recently joined but already landed herself star of the week. Well done Polly.
YEAR 4 COMPUTING
Year 4 enjoyed their live online lesson from Barefoot Computing learning how to use abstraction to design elephants using the microbit.
ELSA AND HER GYMNASTICS
Last Sunday, Elsa took part in a gymnastics competition between West Sussex clubs. She did very well and won two medals — one for second place and one for third place. Elsa was also awarded first place in the design competition for creating a gymnastics leotard. On top of that, Elsa has also recently achieved her swimming certificate for completing one mile, which is a great milestone for her.
ART EXPLORATION
Ocean Class had a chance to experiment with high-pigment paints on cartridge paper this week. They explored the effects they could create with water, salt, chalk and pen.
