Happy Saturday everyone.
It’s been another busy week involving a pyjama day, lots of music and Dixie, Mrs Bennett, Mr Joseph, Miss Mann and Mrs Hampton putting trees up in every class and around the school in preparation for the build up to Christmas.
ON THIS DAY – 29th NOVEMBER
In 1963 The Beatles released ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ in the UK, and in 1969 their song ‘Come Together’ topped the U.S. charts. In 1975, Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ hit number one in the UK, while Bon Jovi earned their first U.S. No. 1 with ‘You Give Love a Bad Name’ in 1986.
CHRISTMAS SELECTION BOX
The children have started rehearsing their class Christmas song for the Christmas Selection Box performances and I have to say, they are sounding great!
EYFS/KS1 performances will take place at 2.30pm on 10th and 11th December
KS2 performances will take place at 2.30pm on 15th and 16th December
You don’t need to book tickets, just come along and enjoy the sound of Christmas. There’s something for everybody in a Shoreham Beach Christmas Selection Box!
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. So many people. A huge thank you to Alan (Ella and Grace’s grandad) who joined in with the fun as part of ‘National Alan Day’.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:
OSCAR
Congratulations to Ella P (Year 4) on being presented with an Oscar.
Ella is a quiet pupil who deserves an Oscar because of her super attitude to learning. Every piece of learning is completed to a high standard and presented creatively. Ella is very good at editing her work and always tries so hard to improve her writing further. The wolf and Antarctica paintings she produced were fantastic! Ella excels in sport and she is an amazing swimmer and gymnast. According to Mrs Barnes, Ella is just lovely, kind, thoughtful, smiley, happy and an asset to Lighthouse class.
GOLD AWARD
Congratulations to Maisie (Year 5) who was presented with a Gold Award this week.
GOLDEN TICKETS
Congratulations to our Golden Ticketers: Teddy and Josie (Reception), Lauren and Cadence (Year 1), Raphael and Maisie (Year 2), Edden and Hunter (Year 3), Florence and Lincoln (Year 4), Heidi and Howl (Year 5), Faith and Ella (Year 6).
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The class with the best attendance this week is Lighthouse Class with 99.1%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Randall for them to have for a week.
HARLEY TALK
A message from Harley Bear:
ELSA
Elsa (Year 5) participated in a gymnastics competition in Maidstone last week and achieved great results. She wrote a short description of her awards below:
“I won second place at a gymnastics competition and a vault award for trying my best on my second vault, even though I fell on the first one.”
What a great achievement Elsa – well done.
MOLLY
Well done to Molly (Year 2) who scored 8 goals last weekend for her football team. I’ve suggested she play for Liverpool Football Club who are just awful at the moment but she said “No, they’re rubbish.”. You’re not wrong Molly.
NURSERY TIME
Our nursery numbers are increasing steadily so in the new year we will be looking to advertise for an additional member of staff for the nursery. It will be a nursery practitioner post. Watch this space.
DISPLAY
Here is a classroom display that caught my eye this week. Some beautiful artwork by Year 6, inspired by Freda Kahlo. It’s worth zooming in to see the fine detail and colour mixing.
MINNOWS MAGIC
VOLUNTEERING
Joshy and Lawrie helped Marshall at the Shoreham parkrun event on a very windy and cold Saturday morning. They were both amazing – clapping and encouraging all the runners. They even walked the route to get to their posts without complaint (a solid 5k stroll). Well done boys on supporting a lovely community event.
CHRISTMAS FAIR
The PTA Christmas Fair will be taking place after school on Friday 5th December. We hope you can make it.
CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXES
Miss Mann would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the Christmas shoe box collection as part of the Samaritan’s Purse charity. A total of 102 shoe boxes were produced. This is an incredible number. Thank you to Miss Mann for organising the collection.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
