Weekend Blog 13.12.25 – A Festive Hug

Happy Saturday everyone.

May I take this opportunity to mention Oakley (Year 5), who showed incredible kindness towards a younger pupil this week when they became very upset and distressed during a lunchtime. Oakley simply opened his arms and gave the pupil a hug. Hugs are so powerful. Well done Oakley – we are very proud of the care you showed without a second thought.

BREAKOUT

Yesterday, every child was involved in our Christmas Breakout Afternoon. Wooden tree decorations were made, baubles were decorated, glass jars were painted, Christmas stories were written, bookmarks were designed, Christmas crackers were produced, iced biscuits were baked and songs and dances were performed. Children were in mixed year groups and had a fabulous festive afternoon!

CHRISTMAS SELECTION BOX

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 performed their Christmas songs this week as part of the EYFS/KS1 Christmas Selection Box. They did so well and looked fabulous in their jumpers and costumes (there was even a Nativity Pig). Thank you to the staff for putting the selection box together and thank you to the parents and grandparents for coming to see the performances – we hope you enjoyed it. KS2 Selection Box on Monday and Tuesday afternoon next week.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. We love our Funky Friday Assemblies, and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces.

WHOLE SCHOOL TREAT

Congratulations to the children on achieving 20,000 merits. Your whole school treat is a visit to the Ropetackle in Shoreham next Wednesday to see this year’s pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’. (Oh yes it is!)

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:

OSCAR

Congratulations to Ella (Year 3) and Raia (Year 2) on being presented with Oscars this week.

Ella received an Oscar for being a superstar! You may have read in a recent blog about her fabulous keyboard skills. Well, she has also represented Wickers club in the recent Gymnastics championships receiving a medal and certificate for her floor, vault and bar routine. She even received a comment about her “fantastic pointy toes”. Not only that, but Ella has made it through to the next stage of the BBC 500 Word story-writing competition. Ella – you are so talented. Is there anything you can’t do?!

Raia received her Oscar for being such a brilliant and wonderful person. In the classroom, she has all the qualities you could ever hope to find. Her learning always has depth because she explains her thinking, and has interesting and exciting ideas to share. Raia is always ready and willing to show kindness to everyone around her. She has a winning personality and will go far in life because of it. All the adults in Starfish class are delighted that they get to learn alongside her. It’s been said before, but she truly is a Raia of sunshine.

Congratulations to Fliss, Polly and Zachary on receiving Gold Awards.

HARLEY TALK

A message from Harley Bear:

HANNAH & MILLIE

Hannah and Millie (Year 6) recently competed in the Wickers Club championship and did amazingly well. They competed in the floor, vault and bars. Hannah achieved 2nd overall and Millie 1st overall for their age group. Hannah received top marks in vault and Millie got top marks in floor. Hannah got a judge award for her smile and vault and Millie for her floor routine. Well done girls.

EFFIE

Congratulations also to Effie for coming 2nd with her floor routine and 1st with overall highest points for vault and bar in her age group.

BASKETBALL

On Tuesday, eight children from Year 5 and 6 went to Angmering School to partake in the area finals, after their success earlier this year at Sir Robert Woodard Academy. The two best teams from Shoreham, Steyning, Lancing, Worthing, Rustington and Littlehampton attended the finals. Overall, the team were fantastic and made it all the way to the semi-finals, resulting in us finishing the 4 best basketball team in the area! We couldn’t be prouder of such an amazing team who have accomplished so much! Well done!
