Happy Festive Saturday everyone.
Five more sleeps………
It’s been a very busy and productive Autumn term. New fencing and artificial grass, a new classroom, a new staffroom and a new Nursery. We have had success in basketball and an amazing turn out for our open mornings. The children have experienced many trips and visitors linked to our curriculum, Year 3 were in the papers for their letter writing and we received excellent comments from the Early Years Adviser when she visited our Nursery. Here’s to an exciting 2026……
KS2 CHRISTMAS SELECTION BOX
Well done to the KS2 children who performed their Selection Box songs this week. A piano soloist, a vocal soloist, recorders, harmonies, counter melodies and a lovely range of different Christmas songs. Wow! Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended and thank you to the staff for putting it all together.
We were particularly thrilled to receive this comment from a parent: We were blown away at how beautifully the class sang and performed Carol of the Bells during the KS2 Selection Box. They created a truly magical atmosphere with their music. Their teamwork and dedication was so apparent, keeping in time together and singing in very impressive harmonies. It was a treat for the parents and grandparents to enjoy.
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to all those who attended yesterday’s Festive Funky Friday Assembly. It was the final one of the Autumn term and the final one of 2025. We even had our Nursery children involved. I hope it made you smile.
WHOLE SCHOOL TREAT
On Wednesday, the whole school visited the Ropetackle in Shoreham to watch this year’s pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’, and they loved it (oh yes they did!). Their behaviour was exemplary. Thank you to the staff and parents for getting the children there and back safely. Thank you to Tom at the Ropetackle and Mr Strudwick for ensuring everything ran smoothly.
As one parent said: I just wanted to reach out and thank you for all your continued hard work and the wonderful treat for the children. The school goes above and beyond for the children all the time. Thank you again, it doesn’t go unnoticed from us all the wonderful memories you’re creating for the children.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:
OSCAR
Congratulations to Etienne on being presented with an Oscar this week.
Since coming into Year 6 in September, Etienne has really impressed us with his hard work and huge progress. Every morning Etienne arrives and starts by asking, ‘Wait – what are we doing today?’ As soon as he knows, he throws themselves into his learning – making sure he knows exactly what he has to do. It has been a real pleasure watching Etienne grow in confidence – he takes great pride in what he produces and recently has surprised himself with what he is achieving but he remains so modest. I don’t think he realises what a pleasure it is to have him in Ocean Class. Etienne – you really do deserve an Oscar!
GOLD AWARD
Congratulations to Freya and Juliette on being presented with Gold Awards.
GOLDEN TICKETS
Congratulations to our Golden Ticketers: Indi and Gully (Reception), Taha and Phoebe (Year 1), Arisa (Year 2), Winnie and Raphael (Year 3), Didi and Izzy (Year 4), Mira and Rosa (Year 5), Poppy and Iris (Year 6).
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The class with the best attendance this week is Nursery with 100%. The Randomiser allowed them to choose any of the dogs. They chose Little Harley Bear.
HARLEY TALK
A message from Harley Bear:
SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN
Rosa (Year 5) recently played in her very first piano recital, performing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” By chance, Mrs Barnes, was in the audience and kindly wrote to say how much she enjoyed Rosa’s performance, noting the confidence and enjoyment she showed on stage. Well done Rosa.
NURSERY TIME
Don’t forget, we will be advertising for a Nursery Practitioner after Christmas. Watch out for the advert and come and join our VERY happy Nursery.
Contact the office if you want your child to be part of our school nursery.
ELSA
Elsa (Year 5) started diving about two months ago and recently participated in her first competition. We are very proud to say that she came in third place. Elsa is really enjoying the sport, and we are happy to see her progress and confidence growing
DANCE
Freya (Year 3), Amelie (Year 5) and Poppy (Year 6) competed in the 2025 Supreme Dance Finals. The girls danced a wedding themed routine to Frank Sinatra’s ‘Ring A Ding Ding’ in the Age 10-12 Modern & Jazz Groups Category and they won Silver!
Poppy and Amelie also achieved Bronze with their Musical Theatre Group in Age 10 & Under Category, performing Supercali from Mary Poppins.
We are all immensely proud of what the girls have achieved.
CHIEF SCOUT BRONZE AWARDS
Alice, Reuben, Everly and Lua all collected their Chief Scout Bronze awards last weekend. Lawrie and Naomi have also received the award but sadly couldn’t make the ceremony hence not in the picture. We’re very proud of how they uphold the scout values and throw themselves into the tasks and challenges.
If any other 6-8 year old would like to get involved in den building, fire making and all-round fun then Beavers currently has spaces. They can sign up here: https://www.scouts.org.uk/groups/10011583?loc=bn150hg&page=2&slug=3rd-Shoreham-Sea-Scouts
