Weekend Blog 17.01.26 – O Romeo, Romeo…….

Happy Saturday everyone,

This week I was thrilled to see how much our Year 6 pupils have been enjoying analysing and performing the first few scenes in Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. They have grasped the language well and are thoroughly immersed in the emotion of each scene. Well done.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. I trust you all went home and tried a Fig Roll in celebration of National Fig Roll Day. At Shoreham Beach Primary we like to encourage thinking and respectful debate, so my question is this…….is a Fig Roll a biscuit or a cake? Something for you to discuss with your children this weekend.

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble (who also photo-bombed one of the one of the photos):

OSCAR

Congratulations to Maisie (Year 5) on being presented with an Oscar. Maisie is a role model who strives for perfection and is determined to do her very best. Maisie is incredibly kind and caring. Her class teacher Mr Strudwick says that she has Shoreham Beach Primary School running through their veins. This week, Maisie demonstrated her kind nature at a local cross-country event where she was seen checking in with all of her team mates to ensure they were okay and also congratulated each of them on their success. All of this before she celebrated her own success. Well done Maisie, you thoroughly deserve this Oscar!

GOLD AWARD

Congratulations to Elara, River and Lily on receiving Gold Awards for five mentions in the Log Book.

GOLDEN TICKETS

Congratulations to our Golden Ticketers: Oscar and Aiden (Reception), Frankie and Otis (Year 1), Ruben and Dominion (Year 2), Ava and Jeta (Year 3), Ellia and Effie (Year 4), Amelie and Delilah (Year 5), Logan and Lilah-Belle (Year 6).

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Lighthouse Class with 99.5%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Crow for them to have for the week. We are so pleased that Crow will finally get to spend some time in a class with children.

HARLEY TALK

A message from Harley Bear:

No Harley, Fig Rolls are not good for dogs!

TO THE STARS AND BACK

Year 5 visited South Downs Planetarium and Science Centre in Chichester and had an ‘out of this world’ time.

CROSS COUNTRY FESTIVAL

On Wednesday, fourteen Year 5 children visited North Lancing Primary School to participate in the Locality Cross Country Festival. The course was treacherous with steep hills, muddy fields and bitterly cold weather conditions. All of the children demonstrated grit and determination, making our school incredibly proud of their achievements. To top off a brilliant sports event, three individuals – Amelie, Flynn and Remy have qualified for the next round (The Area Finals) at Windlesham House.  We wish them all the luck in the next round! Well done to you all. You should feel very proud.

NURSERY TIME

Don’t forget to contact the school office if you are looking for a nursery place for your child.
