Happy Valentines Day everyone,
Did you know that neither Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga were the first to use the heart-shaped hand gesture – it was Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan who used the gesture in a piece of artwork called ‘Family Syntax’ in 1989. Show someone the heart-shaped hand gesture today. Make them smile.
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. There was certainly a lot of love in the room. I’m sorry if your child decided to keep their heart-shaped chocolate rather than share it with you.
MINNOWS MAGIC
Thank you to the many Minnows parents and carers who attended the Reading/Writing workshop this week with Caz Thomas and the sharing of the Learning Journals in the classroom.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:
OSCAR
Congratulations to Teddy (Reception) and Logan (Year 6) on being presented with Oscars.
Teddy has worked exceptionally hard since starting school in September. He literally throws himself into all areas of learning! He never stops trying and he never gives up. He is one of the most determined, hardworking Minnows Mrs Thomas has ever taught. Not only does he have the most amazing attitude to learning, he is also one of the most polite, sweet natured children. If a friend is sad, he’s the first to cheer them up. If a friend is hurt, he’s the first to offer a wet soggy paper towel! He is an amazing role model to others and we all adore him.
Logan is kind, caring, smiley and now approaches all learning with enthusiasm and confidence. He is great at sport, excellent at art and has really shone in the recent drama sessions. Logan is such a good friend to others and thoroughly deserves the Oscar. Logan – you are a superstar.
GOLD AWARD
Congratulations to Josie (Reception), Didi (year 4), Florence (Year 4) and Orla (Year 5) on receiving a Gold Award this week.

Congratulations to our Golden Ticketers: Teddy and Felix (Reception), Oakley and Elyot (Year 1), Polly and Sidney (Year 2), Joshy and Betty (Year 3), Naomi and Max (Year 4), Alana-Mai and Frances (Year 5), Riley and Ollie (Year 6).
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The class with the best attendance this week is Lighthouse Class with 99%. The Attendance Randomiser allowed them to select a dog of their choice. They chose Zeus.
BAKING WITH YEAR 2
Year 2 cooked healthy carrot muffins this week as part of their STEM learning about nutrition.
UNDER THE SEA
Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the Sealife Centre in Brighton on Tuesday.
