Weekend Blog 28.02.26 – Young Voices 2026

Happy Saturday everyone,

It’s been a busy first week back. A drama workshop, netball, a girls football session at the Brighton & Hove Albion’s training ground, several visitors, a whole school DT Week and the Young Voices concert at the O2.

YOUNG VOICES

After months of dedication and rehearsals, children from Year 4 took part in the Young Voices concert at The O2 this week, where they sang their hearts out and did everyone at Shoreham Beach proud.

From Rose Royce to Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift to Myles Smith, and tunes from the Wicked soundtrack, the children worked incredibly hard to learn and perform the songs. A special mention must go to their powerful dance moves and air guitar solos to ‘Power in Me’!

The children travelled by coach early in the school day to The O2, where they spent three hours in rehearsals for the big event. Seeing the arena all lit up for the concert was an experience we are sure they will never forget. They sang, danced and proudly waved their Shoreham Beach banner throughout the evening.

Their enthusiasm for learning and performing the songs, their support for one another and their stamina throughout the long day was incredible. We are so proud of them. Their behaviour was exemplary with even the coach driver stating that he had never come across such a well behaved group of children!

A big thank you to the parents – Jane Hannon, Ocean Reid, Louisa Ewing and Matilda May – for helping on the day and giving up so much of their time, and a special thank you to Ocean Reid again for supporting rehearsals and offering lots of valuable advice!

May I also thank Mr Joseph and Mrs Clarke who gave up their time to give the children such a fabulous experience.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. I hope you enjoyed it.

DT WEEK

Every child was involved in a designing, making, building or cooking activity this week. Here are a few photographs:

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:

OSCAR

Congratulations to our Year 4 Young Voices choir. You thoroughly deserve this Oscar not only for your dedication in learning and rehearsing the songs, but also for your behaviour and politeness to the adults who took you to London AND the coach driver. It makes me so proud as a Headteacher when I receive positive comments when you are representing the school. Well done all of you. I hope you had a fabulous time.

GOLD AWARD

Congratulations to Elsa (Year 5) and Ellie (Reception) on being presented with Gold Awards with five mentions in the Log Book. It was a double whammy for Ellie who also received a Golden Ticket this week. Well done you two!

GOLDEN TICKETS

Congratulations to our Golden Ticketers: Ellie and Bella (Reception), Lauren and Skylar (Year 1), Thea and Raia (Year 2), Indie and Emmy (Year 3), Ella and Lawrie (Year 4), Howl and Rex (Year 5), Enoch and Alex (Year 6).

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is our Nursery with 100%. The children attended our Funky Friday Assembly and the Attendance Randomiser selected Zeus for them to have for a week.

POND LIFE

Our pond is beginning to spring into life. If anyone is willing to donate any tadpoles or pond life – it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE

Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed their morning of drama with Drama4Workshops through Perform for Schools. The children got to go on adventure through a magic toy shop.

NURSERY TIME

We already have parents booking a place for their child in our Nursery for after Easter and September. Don’t miss out.

MINNOWS MAGIC

YEAR 5 & 6 INDOOR NETBALL

Our Year 5/6 netball team went to Sir Robert Woodard Academy on Wednesday. They played 5 games, winning 3 and losing 2. In total, we scored 17 goals and conceded only 5. They were fantastic and demonstrated outstanding teamwork. Well done.

ALBION IN THE COMMUNITY

Thank you to Albion in The Community for inviting our Year 4 girls to play in a football festival at Brighton & Hove Albion’s training ground. The girls took part in a variety of skill sessions and some matches. It was a fantastic day with lots of fun and smiles.

Have a good weekend.
