Weekend Blog 27.06.26 – Heatwave

Hello everyone,

Happy Saturday.

As we welcome the weekend, I would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this period of exceptionally hot weather. Thank you to the staff for their dedication and professionalism in ensuring the children remained safe whilst in school. Thank you to the children for being so understanding that our options in school were limited due to the extreme temperature. Thank you to those parents who shared their appreciation regarding the decision to offer optional attendance on Thursday. Last week was incredibly challenging for everyone in unusually hot conditions, but the children remained in good spirits and the staff were creative in their outdoor teaching. A special mention to Otto’s mum for the staff ice creams.

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from this week, captured by Miss Watson:

RAINBOW THEATRE VISIT

Year 4 engaged in a very loud and exciting Viking drama workshop this week. Thank you to the Rainbow Theatre Company.

NURSERY TIME

Our Nursery continues to be a huge success. Emily and her team will be offering a Stay and Play morning during the summer break. Come along with your child and say hello.

UP UP AND AWAY

Year 1 visited the airport his week and loved it. They got to see inside the private hangars, spoke to the fireman and even got to sit in the Sky News helicopter. What a brilliant afternoon out.

SWIMMING SUCCESS

Last Saturday, Lily, Theo, Ella and Ollie from Year 6 represented the school in Sheffield at the English Schools Swimming National Finals. This involved the top 3 schools in the 7 regions across England. Schools were separated based on size so we took part in the small schools competition which was any school with less than 65 across year 5 and 6.
Shoreham Beach managed to win the President’s Award as the top state school in the Freestyle and the Mixed Medley Race. an incredible achievement.
They all behaved beautifully and were polite and respectful to all the volunteers and officials poolside. They did themselves and the school proud and it was amazing to watch them shine on such a big stage. Well done to all four of you.

STAFFING UPDATE

Welcome Mrs Bowers

Following Mrs Clark’s announcement that she will be leaving us at the end of the summer term, I can share the news that we have appointed Carmen Bowers as our new SENCo. Carmen is currently a SENCo at another West Sussex primary school and has also been a Deputy Head. I’m sure you will join us in welcoming her to our Shoreham Beach Primary School family.

Have a good weekend everyone.
