Weekend Blog 21.12.24 – Merry Christmas Everyone

Hello everyone.

As we enter the Christmas break, there has certainly been festive spirits in the school over the last couple of weeks. We have seen so much colour, excitement and kindness (something the Ofsted Inspector commented on in his feedback to us). The whole school Christmas film was well-received and the KS2 Christmas Selection Box was beautifully performed. The icing on the Christmas Cake was a comment from a parent, who said “Thank you for the great teaching, fun experiences and care…” Thank you.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our final Funky Friday Assembly of 2024. It was certainly full of celebration and very fitting for this time of year. It also included Louis on drums and our backing dancers Delilah, Hettie, Amelie and Mira. Thank you to Mrs Lamper and her team of Elves for ensuring every monkey (and Beatrix in Year 6) was ‘Lampered’.

OSCARS

Congratulations to Macey (Year 4) on being presented with an Oscar. Macey is a superstar. She is working so hard in class and continues to be a fabulous footballer, a wonderful chess player and an amazing help to her mum and brother at home. Macey is passionate about the environment and is such a kind and caring Shoreham Beach pupil. Well done Macey.

Congratulations also to Kalindi (Year 6). Kalindi has been a buddy to Etta in Minnows since Etta started school in September and has been an incredibly positive influence during this time. Etta has mentioned Kalindi numerous times at home and has expressed how amazing and lovely she is. Etta’s parents are incredibly grateful to Kalindi. She has helped make Ettas start to school absolutely amazing. Well done Kalindi.

GREAT YEAR 1 BAKE OFF

Seashells baked their way around the United Kingdom this week. They made shortbread, bread pudding, soda bread and Welsh cakes with Mrs Bennett! There were some mixed reviews on taste, but overall, everyone enjoyed it

HARLEY’S CORNER

“Hello everyone. Wow! This week I got my photograph taken with a ‘real’ musician…….Mr Strudwick. Hey Grandma, he’s as popular as Harry Styles and plays the Triangle really well. Looking forward to seeing you over Christmas Grandma.”

OH NO SHE ISN’T…..OH YES SHE IS!

Cassidy (Year 6) is in Panto at the Ropetackle Arts Centre again this Christmas. Her sisters and mum are in it too. There also some other former Shoreham Beach pupils, Daisy Burkes (Beatrix’s older sister) and Ailsa Rice.

It started last night and runs until 5th January. It’s currently sold out until Boxing Day, but there are some tickets left for performances after that.

MORE ACHIEVEMENTS

In November, Jim and Maxine took part in the Primary Maths Challenge across all primary schools in England. It was a great experience and they really enjoyed themselves and the challenge. Some questions were quite head-scratching ones. Jim achieved an amazing score and received a participation award, Maxine got a silver award.

In addition, Iris and Maxine participated in the distance swim challenge organised by the Penguins Swimming School based at Lancing College. Their older sisters, Hazel and Margarita also took part in the challenge. Iris swam 1 mile and Maxine 1,350km. Margarita and Maxine dedicated their challenge to raising money for the local charity – The Pebble Trust, which supports local young people, enabling them to develop exceptional talent.
