Weekend Blog 11.10.25 – Let’s Harvest

Hello everyone.

Happy Saturday.

LET’S HARVEST

On Monday we welcomed Reverend Jane from the Church of the Good Shepherd to lead our Harvest Assembly. We also had a collection as part of the assembly to mark Harvest Festival. A huge thank you to all the parents and  pupils for your kindness and generosity. Joss Loader (Chair of Shoreham & Adur Community Foodbank) said “Shoreham Beach Primary School is always very supportive, but this was one of the largest collections in our history, so please pass on our thanks to everyone involved. We are incredibly grateful.”

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. A special mention to Minnows Class who joined us for the first time this academic year. It was lovely seeing them sitting with their Year 6 buddy and singing along to the songs.

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from in and around school, captured by Mrs Noble:

OSCARS

Congratulations to Nimitan (Year 4) who received an Oscar because she is like a ray of sunshine. Every day she arrives in the class smiling and her attitude to learning is fantastic. Every piece of learning is completed to a high standard because of Nimitan’s positive attitude. She is always pushing herself to be better. Mrs Barnes says “I`m very lucky to have such a keen pupil in the class.”

GOLD AWARDS

No Gold Awards yet, but we have children who are almost there with 3 and 4 mentions in the Log Book.

GOLDEN TICKETS

Congratulations to our Golden Ticketers: Chester and Cece (Reception), Otis and Emilija (Year 1), Otto and Thea (Year 2), Lily (Year 3), Reuben and Alfie (Year 4), Frances and Elara (Year 5), Theo (Year 6)

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Lighthouse Class with 99.5%. The attendance Randomiser selected Randall for them to have for the week. It’s the second time lovely Randall has been selected.

MOON LANDING

Years 1,2,3 & 4 took part in a Moon Landing Coding Adventure this week to coincide with Space Week. This exciting opportunity delivered by the Get With the Program Team was funded by the Department of Transport and the UK Civil Aviation Authority. The children worked with Professor Trice and AL the robot to design, write, test and debug algorithms. Here are some comments from the children:

“I enjoyed coding the robot to get him to the moon. I learnt to use the terms algorithm, debugging, testing. I learnt that you have to break programs down into steps.”

“I really liked it when they showed us how many algorithms Margaret Hamilton had to write to get Apollo to the moon. I also liked it when they coded the robot to get into the ship. I found it really funny when she got it wrong! “

“I liked it when Professor Trice forgot to give the robot the flag. It was so funny. The coding activity on Scratch was great.”

“I`ve learnt about jobs in space I might do when I`m older like computer scientist, astronaut, mission controller, aerospace scientist, research scientist, space engineer.”
