Weekend Blog 10.01.26 – Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year everyone.

Here’s to 2026…….

WSCC ADVISER VISIT

On Tuesday (our first day back after Christmas) we welcomed a senior West Sussex Adviser into the school. She spent all morning with us and not only met with the senior leadership team and governors, but also visited each class to look at the quality of teaching and learning. Her feedback highlighted how impressed she was by the learning ethos, attitude of the children, questions used by the adults to motivate thinking, time given for children to share their thoughts, the independence of pupils further down the school, evidence of subject specific vocabulary and classroom climates. She commented on how happy the children were and how well the children had returned after Christmas. She also noted how keen they were to learn. Well done all.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you Sully and Delilah’s mum for the photograph!! Hmmm!

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:

OSCAR

Congratulations to Rufus on being presented with an Oscar this week.

He approaches each day with a positive outlook, showing cheerfulness and friendliness to everyone. It is no surprise that Rufus is well liked by his peers, as he is consistently kind and supportive, and will always big them up when given the opportunity. Rufus shows great determination in his learning and, this year, has learned to think outside the box to demonstrate his understanding in a variety of creative ways.
Rufus has played his guitar for lots of people in school and at home (including aunties and cousins). He even played for his uncle Matt who is recovering in hospital and baby Seth. Rufus – you are a superstar.

GOLD AWARD

Congratulations to Lydia (Year 4) on being presented with a Gold Award.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Ocean Class with 98.8%. The Randomiser selected Randall for them to have for a week.

MILLIE

Last weekend Millie (Year 4) won a gold medal at the County Gala at the K2 Crawley for 100m backstroke. Due to her finishing time, Millie has also been selected to participate in a relay gala at the end of the month back at the K2 against other county standard swim schools, in the age 10-11 age group, as well as numerous other county standard galas throughout Feb and March. Well done Millie…..and good luck.

LYLA AND LINCOLN

Lyla and Lincoln had an early Christmas treat on Dec 20th when they got to watch The Big Game 17 at Twickenham. Lyla got an extra treat to be in the guard of honour for the women’s, she had a stunned face on her when her idol Ellie Kildunne came out at the end.

Lincoln was player of the month in his U9’s team.
