Happy Saturday everyone,
A thought to start this weekend’s blog…….are Square Crisps really square? Mr Collinson isn’t so sure after discovering these in his packet of Square Crisps.
THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC
A local resident came to the front office on Wednesday to share his appreciation at the quality of singing coming from the hall during singing assembly. He was so impressed, that he decided to stand in the Cheal Close sunshine, enjoying the children singing. Whoever that gentleman was – thank you for your kind comments. You made our day.
WORLD BOOK DAY
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to all those parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. Thank you to Iris who took over operating the PowerPoint with very short notice.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:
OSCAR
Congratulations to Betty (Year 3) and Freya (Year 3) on being presented with an Oscar.
Betty is so enthusiastic about school. She brings an abundance of positive energy in with her every day and spreads her cheerfulness to all those around her. During lessons, she always joins in and is keen to contribute to discussions. Betty will willingly come to the front of the class to explain and show the others her understanding. We can’t help but notice how bright-eyed and engaged she is in everything she does. She is also one of the most helpful children ever. When a job needs doing or there’s an opportunity to help out, Betty seems to magically appear at your side! She takes advice very seriously and always thinks about how to improve her work. She really is an all-round superstar. Not only is she a superstar in the classroom, but last week she also completed her Level 4 swimming and moved up to Level 5. Is there nothing she can’t do? Well done Betty.
Freya brings so much fun to the learning in class. She is constantly beaming and contributes to everything with a smile on her face. Her many achievements include demonstrating gymnastic moves to the rest of the class, being a brilliant questioner during reciprocal reading and having the skill to create brilliant artwork on computer software. This week, she even read an extract from one of her favourite books in front of the whole school with no preparation. What really impressed us was the level of kindness she showed when she voluntarily looked after a little girl who had moved from Squirrels to Beavers. Freya took her under her wing and made sure the new recruit felt safe and happy. Well done Freya.

POND LIFE
Thank you to Orla’s mum and Poppy’s dad for dropping in some toad and frogspawn yesterday. Already this week, children have spotted four newts, one toad, one frog and many pond snails and water insects. If you have any pond life that you are willing to donate – please speak to the school office. Thank you so much.

This was Ella and Millie’s first counties and they both overcame their nerves to get in and swim their races doing themselves very proud. Millie came away with 3 rosettes (top 8) and Ella came away with 3 gold medals, 3 bronze medals and 4 rosettes and was placed second for her age overall.
