Happy Sunny Saturday everyone,
This week saw children and staff going ‘quackers’ over the ducklings in Minnows. What amazed me was how quickly the ducklings hatched, grew their coat of down (first layer of soft feathers) and then took to the water. Amazing!

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended yesterday’s Funky Friday Assembly. It was packed. At the beginning of the assembly I shared the photograph below of Pearl (Reception) admiring Henri Rousseau’s ‘Tiger in A Tropical Storm’. It’s a great photograph and when I asked Pearl what she was thinking as she stared at the painting, she replied “Nice”.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments from in and around school this week, captured by Mrs Noble:
OSCAR
Congratulations to Pearl (Reception) and Indie (Year 3).
Indie is always so full of beans. She’s chirpy, keen to be involved and consistently makes the most of her considerable intelligence. Mr Joseph always knows that when he needs someone to explain something to the class in a different way, she’s one of the children to go to. Indie reasons really well and can also think outside the box. She is always keen to work hard and contribute to everything, from writing to maths to PE.
On top of all this, she’s always smiling, laughing or making others feel good with her positive energy. If someone comes in a little bit sad in the morning, she will do her best to cheer them up. What a quality to have!
Pearl bounces into school every morning with the biggest of smiles and a hug for the teachers. It is clear to see that she loves school so much! She is the most enthusiastic, passionate and determined little learner. When learning about the artist Henri Rousseau she decided that she wanted to be an artist too. She would spend her time during Discovery drawing pictures in the style of Rousseau and showing them to the class. Inspired by this Pearl even went to the National Gallery in London to look at Rousseau’s work. She is also so sweet and gentle with the ducklings in the class. Talking to them in a quiet voice so not to startle them and making little books for them to read! Pearl, we absolutely adore you. We are so proud of you as a learner . You work so hard and because of this, you are having the best first year at school. Congratulations you superstar! It was a double whammy for Pearl as she also received a Golden Ticket.

HARLEY TALK
A message from Harley Bear:
POND LIFE
Thank you to Mrs Paterson for adding tadpoles to our pond. If anyone else has any pond life that they are willing to donate – it would be gratefully accepted. Thank you.
YEAR 3 & 4 TRIP
Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a visit to the Brighton Museum this week. They took part in interactive workshops to deepen their understanding of their learning journeys and worked together in teams to unravel the mysteries of the Stone Age and Ancient Egypt. They also spent some time exploring other exhibitions in the museum, including the art gallery, the puppetry exhibition and an exhibition that gave them an insight into what Brighton was like in the past. We were so impressed with the way the children eloquently spoke about their learning. They seemed to really enjoy themselves, and their enthusiasm and behaviour were a credit to the school.
Year 4 also made Cartouches and will be making Canopic Jars next week.
SWIMMING
Some of our Year 6 children represented Shoreham Beach at the South East Swimming competition this week at The Pavilions, Horsham. In the small school category, 12 schools participated and we came 2nd in the Freestyle relay and 1st in the Mixed relay. We have therefore qualified for the final on 25th April in Guildford. They were truly amazing and we wish you luck for the finals.
