Weekend Blog 20.06.26 – Reflecting On A Good Week

Happy Saturday everyone.

This week saw our new Reception parents attend a welcome meeting with Caz Thomas and Terri Hall, PC Marsden lead an online safety presentation, a whole school DT Week, a trip to the Rampion Wind Farm and a visit from a Local Authority Senior Adviser who had nothing but positive comments to say about the school and what it offers the children in terms of learning opportunities. We are full in Reception in September and have 5 new children joining us on Monday. We are doing very well as a school. I am very proud. Time to stop and reflect.

OUR BUS

Last week, our good friend and Brighton artist Sean Lyons (@glimmertwin32) gave our bus a respray and refresh. We didn’t tell any of the staff or children. We wanted it to be a surprise for them on Monday morning. It looks fantastic. Thank you Sean.

PEARL

Pearl (Reception) loves her art and enjoys talking about her favourite artists and which art galleries she has visited. The photograph below shows Pearl’s latest masterpiece – pressed flowers with a colour wash.

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. It is a chance to share and celebrate the achievements of the children. I hope it made you smile.

CAPTURED

Here are some learning moments from this week, captured by Miss Watson:

OSCAR

Congratulations to Ella (Year 6) on being presented with an Oscar. Ella has worked her socks off throughout the year. She always shows such resilience, determination and hard work in every subject. She is one of the kindest and most caring pupils we have had the pleasure to teach. Ella is especially kind to her Minnow. She is smiley, hardworking, conscientious, responsible, reflective and can be relied upon to manage any situation sensibly. Well done Ella.

GOLD AWARDS

Congratulations to the following children on being presented with a Gold Award for five mentions in the Log Book: Jesse and Orla. It was a double whammy for Jesse who also received a Golden Ticket.

GOLDEN TICKETS

Our Golden Ticketers this week are: Jesse and Bella (Minnows), Joshua and Kayla (Starfish), Ruben and Ronnie (Seashells), Felicity and Payton (Dolphins), Naomi and Lua (Lighthouse), Remy and Archie (Coral), Hannah and Lila-Belle (Ocean)

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with the best attendance this week is Minnows with 96.5%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Crow for them to have for the week. We noticed that Scoobie has also been added to the gang.

HARLEY SAYS….

Sorry everybody. Unfortunately, we are having technical difficulties with Harley Bear’s videos at the moment. We will bring them to you again as soon as the issue is resolved.

TANG SOO DOH

Maxine and Iris (both Year 6) passed their 1st gup grading on Saturday. The next grading will be for 1st dan – better known as black belt! The girls have achieved the highest level in Tang Soo Doh (Korean Karate) before black belt: Red Belt with two tags. Well done girls.

YEAR 5 TRIP

On Thursday Coral Class had a super day at the Rampion Wind Farm in Brighton. They had fun designing and planning their own wind farm, a VR experience of being on one of the wind turbines, as well as time to look around the visitor centre. All the children were a credit to the school – well done Year 5!

ROUNDERS

This week some children from year 5 and 6 attended a rounders tournament at Sir Robert Woodard Academy. The children were real ambassadors for the school. They showed excellent sportsmanship and played superbly, coming 3rd overall.

DT WEEK

Every pupil was involved in our whole school Design Technology Week. The school was full of fruit kebabs, newspaper towers, moving vehicle, healthy food products for McDonalds, finger puppets, steady-hand buzzer games and props for the Year 6 production.

NURSERY TIME

STAFFING UPDATE

Goodbye Mrs Clarke

After many years working at Shoreham Beach Primary School, Mrs Clarke is leaving us for exciting new adventures. She has been at the school for over 15 years as a teacher and more lately as SENCO and is leaving at the end of the summer term. She has been an incredibly hard working, caring, fun member of staff whose kindness and support has touched the lives of so many children, colleagues and families. Whilst we are extremely sad to see her go, we are so grateful for everything she has contributed over the years and wish her every happiness and success in the future. She will be greatly missed by us all. Keep in touch Mrs Clarke, we want to hear all about your travels.

Goodbye Miss Dixon

Kayley Dixon has been an Individual Needs Assistant for a pupil in Year 2. At the end of the summer term, she will be leaving us to spend more time with her family. Wishing you all the best Kayley.

Goodbye Mrs Deniz

Feliz Deniz hasn’t been with us long. She has been working with individuals and groups as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant and is leaving education to take on a new challenge. Thank you Feliz and good luck.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Mr Vallier
