Weekend Blog 04.07.26 – No Time To Slow Down

Hello everyone,

Happy Saturday.

If anyone ever says to you that schools slow down as they head towards the summer break……they are fibbing. It continues to be very busy at Shoreham Beach Primary.

This week the children have been involved in a drama workshop, a trip to Aldingbourne Country Centre, a dress down day, a guitar concert, a flute recital and a transition afternoon. Year 6 pupils have visited their secondary schools and continue to rehearse their end of year production with Tom Beard (Ropetackle Education and Outreach Officer and Ellis’ dad). Thank you Tom.

CAPTURED

Here are some many learning moments from this week, captured by Miss Watson (our professional photographer):

FUNKY FRIDAY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly. I hope the celebrations got you in the mood for the weekend. A huge thank you to Mr Herriott for embracing the spirit of our FF Assemblies by accepting the challenge to play bagpipes and a Kazoo. Check out his latest t-shirt.

OSCAR

Congratulations to Lily, Theo, Ollie and Ella B on their success at the national swimming competition. Their performance, attitudes and behaviour was nothing short of excellent. The magnitude of how they went all the way to Sheffield and put our tiny primary school fully on the map is amazing. There were roughly 11 small schools per county competing and 48 counties which means approximately 400 schools competing Shoreham Beach Primary were placed 6th!! I feel we have four future Olympians attending our school. Well done team.

Congratulations to Didi (Year 4) on being presented with an Oscar. Didi is one of the most enthusiastic learners Mrs Barnes has ever taught! She is hardworking, enthusiastic, always challenging herself and always producing work of the highest standard. Didi excels in every subject. Her writing is very mature for her age and her ‘writer’s voice’ shines through each piece of unique writing produced. Didi is kind, smiley and a pleasure to teach. Well done Didi.

GOLD AWARDS

The following children have all had five mentions in the Log Book and were presented Gold Awards: Phoebe, Finn, Joshua, Alice, Anna and Max. It was a double whammy for Phoebe, Max and Finn, who also received Golden Tickets this week.

GOLDEN TICKETS

Here are this week’s Golden Ticketers: Alfie and Finn (Minnows), Phoebe and Cadence (Seashells), Sienna (Starfish), Vesper and Betty (Dolphins), Ivy and George (Lighthouse), Polly and Bodhi (Coral) and Max (Ocean)

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

The class with this week’s best attendance is Lighthouse Class with 100%. The Attendance Randomiser selected Little Harley for them to have for a week.

Unfortunately, Little Harley is currently in Mexico watching England play in the World Cup. Both myself and Mr Collinson have offered to fly to Mexico over the weekend to join him and bring him back to the school. The sacrifices we have to make!!

ALDINGBOURNE TRIP

On Wednesday this week, Minnows went to Aldingbourne Country Centre. They had a fabulous time. Mrs Thomas reported that the children were polite, respectful and caring towards the adults and animals who they met on the trip.

NURSERY TIME

Our Nursery continues to be a huge success. Emily and her team will be offering a Stay and Play morning during the summer break. Come along with your child and say hello.

CRAIG’S GUITARISTS

Yesterday, the whole school enjoyed a fantastic guitar concert. 35 guitarists came together to play a range of pieces under the guidance of our guitar teacher Craig. I stood watching from the back of a packed hall and it was brilliant! To see the playing together and enjoying such a range of music was wonderful. Thank you Craig and well done children.

VOLUNTEERS

Please may we take this opportunity to say thank you to all the volunteers who have popped into school weekly to listen to children read and support our younger children. Thank you also to those parents who have helped out on trips and with sports events during this academic year. It is greatly appreciated.

Myself and Mr Collinson are off to Mexico so…………

Que tengas un buen fin de semana

Mr Vallier
