Happy Saturday everyone.
Did you know that Live Aid happened 41 years ago this week (13th July 1985)? An incredible event that is well worth checking out or revisiting. Especially the performances by Queen and U2.
BEACH NEWS
Your copy of the Summer edition of Beach News should have been posted through your letterbox this week. A centre page spread and a whole page Nursery advert. Thank you Councillor Joss Loader and the Beach News team.
FUNKY FRIDAY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Funky Friday Assembly. I hope you enjoyed joining us for our weekly celebrations and madness. It was incredibly hot in the hall, but the coolest person (in the broadest sense of the word) was Remy. Remy is a Year 5 pupil who asked me several weeks ago if he could play bass guitar in the Funky Friday Band. Didn’t he do well?! He even had the ‘typical’ bass player stance as he played ‘Zorbing’ by Stornaway. Well done Remy. Get ready to learn some new songs in the Autumn.
CAPTURED
Here are some learning moments from this week, captured by Miss Watson:
OSCAR
Congratulations to Bluebell (Year 1) on being presented with an Oscar for her kindness in welcoming a new member of the class into school. Mr Herriott wrote the following:
As we all know, starting a new school is never easy, but the responsibility Bluebell has taken to help to make this a great welcome to our school off her own back is simply fantastic. She has been so caring, supportive and looks to help and encourage our new members of the class in every way possible. I have seen this first hand in different lessons and out in the playground as well. As we know supporting each other, caring and being kind is a huge part of our school ethos and bluebell certainly has gone above and beyond and has simply been a superstar.
GOLD AWARDS
The following children have all had five mentions in the Log Book and were presented Gold Awards: Bella (Reception), Axel (Year 3), Vesper (Year 3), Didi (Year 4) and Juliette (Year 5). Juliette and Didi both received their second Gold Award. Wow!
GOLDEN TICKETS
Here are this week’s Golden Ticketers: Teddy and Alf (Minnows), Emilija and Taha (Seashells), Imogen and Freddie (Starfish), Bonnie and Edden (Dolphins), Izzy and Izabelle (Lighthouse), Herbie and Rosa (Coral) and Ocean Class (Ocean). Well done all of you.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The class with this week’s best attendance is Dolphins Class with 99.2%. The Attendance Randomiser allowed them to select a dog of their choice. They chose to have Little Harley for the remainder of this term. In September there will be an exciting change to the weekly attendance prize.
YEAR 6 PRODUCTION
This week saw our Year 6 pupils perform their end of year production ‘David Attenbruh’ – A Rumble In The Jungle’ at The Ropetackle. It was great! They did so well and should feel very proud of themselves. A huge thank you to Mrs Bennett, Mrs Hampton and Mrs Paterson for being backstage at various points and looking after the children at the Ropetackle. A massive thank you to Tom Beard (Ellis’ dad) for writing it with the children, directing it and allowing us to perform at the Ropetackle.

PTFA SUMMER FAIR
Thank you to all those who supported last week’s PTFA Summer Fair. It raised a fantastic £2000. A special mention to the following pupils:
Polly (Yr 5) who put in a huge amount of work in making loads of delicious cakes and bakes which raised over £150.
Lua (Yr 4) put on a Teddy Tombola which raised over £120.
Betty (Yr3) who helped out so much with set up on the day.
Thank you also to the PTFA members and staff who helped out and ensured it was a success.
YEAR 4 ARUNDEL TRIP
Some of the Year 4 children wrote about their trip on Monday to Arundel Wetlands:
I discovered that wetlands are very important because they’re home to lots of precious animals and amazing plants – Winnie
When I was pond dipping I caught of the biggest bugs, a giant beetle, in the pond. I learned it liked to go under water to eat microscopic bugs. – Bettie
The instructor told us we couldn’t chuck the bugs back in the water. She told us that we needed to dip them into the pond to let them swim back out – Vesper
THE FINAL BIKE BUS
The final Funky Friday Bike Bus took place yesterday and had cyclists from the age of 3 to 97. Apparently, the youngest rider was a Nursery pupil and the oldest was Raia and Sky’s Great Grandad (also Rufus & Gully’s Great Grandad), who is 97! Well done everyone.
We are heading towards the end of term and this will be the last weekend blog. I will write a final blog on Wednesday after the Leaver’s Assembly (which starts at 9am).
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
