Weekend Blog 29.06.24 – Our Wellbeing Area.

Hello everyone.

Our good friend and Brighton graffiti artist Sean Lyons visited the school this week. As you know, we want to create a wellbeing area in the courtyard ready for September. This will be used at lunchtimes as a quiet space for those who don’t want to be running around outside.

The artificial grass, sail canopies and picnic benches will be installed over the summer break. But this week Sean added his magic touch. Here are some ‘before and after’ photographs:

Thank you Sean.

THRILLING THURSDAY ASSEMBLY

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who attended our Thrilling Thursday Assembly. Thank you also to those who emailed saying how much they enjoyed it.

OSCARS

Congratulations to Scirocco (Year 6) on being presented with an Oscar. Scirocco is so enthusiastic about all that school has to offer. She loves to sing and dance and is so helpful. Scirocco is also a great goalkeeper. I watched her pull off some fabulous saves at breaktime this week. England Women’s Football Team, here we come! Well done Scirocco.

GOLD AWARDS

Congratulations to Imogen, George, Freddie, Felix and Emmy on receiving Gold Awards this week. It was a double whammy for Freddie – who also received a Golden Ticket.

GOLDEN TICKETERS

Golden Ticketers this week are: Kiegan and Freddie (Minnows), Ella and Cass (Seashells), Arthur and Max (Starfish), Leandro and Alana-Mai (Dolphins), Riley and Logan (Lighthouse), Louis and Archie (Coral), Finley and Harri (Ocean). Well done all of you.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Seashells Class achieved the best attendance this week with 96.7%.

MARVELLOUS MAGICAL MAISIE

On Sunday July 14th, Maisie and a group of her friends from Minnows and Seashells (plus a Starfish!) will be cycling / scooting / running around 6 miles to raise money for a Sussex-based Down’s Syndrome Association support group. This cause is close to her family’s heart because Maisie’s little sister Pip, who sadly died, had Down’s Syndrome.

They will be going from Shoreham Beach (meeting at the toilets at Beach Green @ 9am) to the Perch in Lancing (for a coffee / cake / ice cream stop!) and back. It is open to anyone to get involved.

Below is the Crowdfunder page which the family are delighted to say is gaining a lot of momentum with hundreds of pounds already raised (partly thanks to many Shoreham Beach parents and their families!).

POND LIFE

Mr Winstone has informed me that we have diving Beetles in the pond. I couldn’t get a photograph, but here is a Froglet and baby Newt.

LITTLE LOVELIES

Something from Miss Mann:

BEACH TRIP

Year 3 pupils enjoyed a trip down the road to the beach. They created Andy Goldsworthy pieces of art.

RONNIE’S BEACH CLEAN UP

Ronnie (Reception) went for a swim down at the beach in the week with his family. There was rubbish everywhere. Ronnie and his sister went round picking up all the beer cans and mess that had been left. He wants to go again, it’s his new hobby!

NEW STAFF

Mr Collinson, Mr Strudwick and Mr Joseph joined our INSET DAY on Friday. Children will get to meet them properly at our transition afternoon on Thursday. Until then, here they are:
