Hello everyone.
I’ve just noticed that there is a bit of a water theme in this week’s blog. With this in mind, here are a few water facts for you:
- About 70% of the world’s surface is covered in water
- A cow must drink 4 gallons of water to make 1 gallon of milk
- An elephant can detect water from 5km away
- Ice is lighter than water

FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. Anything can happen in a Funky Friday Assembly. Last week staff accompanied the song ‘Do You Love Me’ with non-pitched percussion instruments, this week they played Ukuleles. Brilliant! What next?!
OSCAR
Congratulations to Kayla, Riley and Orla on each receiving an Oscar this week.
Kayla received her Oscar for loving her learning. She is extremely motivated and inspires peers to also strive for greatness in their learning. According to Miss Young – Kayla is a treasured member of the class. It was a double whammy for Kayla, who also received a Golden Ticket this week.
Orla received her Oscar for being an outstanding pupil. Mrs Barnes says Orla is a role model for all pupils to aspire to be. She is kind, caring, thoughtful and hard working. Orla is a lovely, helpful pupil who is always engaged with their learning and smiling in class.
Riley received his Oscar for simply being himself. He is fabulous. Riley is trying so hard with his learning and is always polite. He has a lovely sense of humour and has a very caring nature towards those around him. Keep it up Riley.

Kayla and Cadence (Minnows), Freddie and Jenson (Seashells), Jeta and Ella (Starfish), Flossy and Lincoln (Dolphins), Stanley and Hettie (Lighthouse), Sonny and Lilah-Belle (Coral), Cleo and Katie (Ocean).

ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE
Last Sunday saw Reuben, Felix and Maxine perform with their drama group, Ariel. After rehearsing all day, they performed in front of hundreds of people at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley. They did an amazing job of acting, singing and dancing! All had solo lines and delivered them brilliantly. Maxine’s dancing was absolutely fantastic and she led the group.
THE FOURTH EMERGENCY SERVICE
Year 5 had a brilliant time at the Shoreham Lifeboat Station. This was linked to their learning journey on the Mary Stanford lifeboat disaster. Thankfully they weren’t put off by the weather, and instead saw how valuable the Lifeboat Service is when you live by the sea.
STEM
Children were exploring viscosity and making snow globes at STEM club this week.
ELSA THE LIFEGAURD
Three weeks ago, Elsa 9year 4) participated in a four-day lifeguard course at Splash Point Leisure Centre. She successfully completed the Rookie Lifeguard Stage 1 program, which included training in rescuing individuals in the middle of the pool and learning essential first aid skills. She is very proud of her achievement, and we are equally proud of her dedication and hard work. Well done Elsa.
