Hello everyone.
Cold air, twinkling lights, the smell of hot dogs, Christmas stalls, Christmas singing, the taste of hot chocolate, reindeer food, the warmth of mulled wine and a very popular Santa’s Grotto (which looked fantastic by the way). What a fabulous festive occasion. Our Winter Fair was a huge success.
Thank you to the PTFA, parent and staff helpers who made it possible.
CAPTURED
More learning moments captured by Mrs Noble:
FUNKY FRIDAY ASSEMBLY
Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly yesterday. The Christmas Tree was looking lovely (thank you staff), Mr Joseph was wrapped up in his coat and scarf and Christmas songs were sung. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
OSCAR
Congratulations to George who was presented with an Oscar.
George regularly supplements his classroom learning with home learning, and shares what he has been up to with the class nearly every week. He is also so calm and supportive towards other children. Outside of school, he has been volunteering to help less-confident children at his swimming club by demonstrating various techniques for them. In addition, he supported his mum when they recently moved house. He gave her lots of encouragement, and tried his best to keep her positive during the toughest moments of the day. Well done, George.
GOLDEN TICKETERS
Golden Ticketers this week are:
Vlad and Lily (Minnows), Felix and Sidney (Seashells), India and Felicity (Starfish), George and Indie (Dolphins), Polly and Elara (Lighthouse), Ella and Shay (Coral), Mayowa and Yvie (Ocean).
Well done to you all.
GOLD AWARD

HARLEY’S CORNER
“Hello everyone. There has been a bit of a Christmas buzz in the air this week. The tree is up in the school hall and yesterday evening was our Winter Fair. The children however, are still working hard. Check out Grace and Stanley in the photos below. Lovely writing you two! Hey Grandma – How did Mary and Joseph know that Jesus was 8lb 2oz when he was born? They had a weigh in a manger. Sorry Grandma.”
KEEP ON RUNNING
A report by Mayowa, Emily and Katie (Year 6) on the Year 6 Cross-Country event this week:
To start, we got into the minibus and we were all talking and laughing. When we got there, we put our water bottles down and we did a few warmups: star jumps, lunges, a bit of jogging. The team was excited to race around the park, although some people thought we were running a small field – this was Buckingham Park and we had to do 2 laps! It was also extremely cold, and none of us were wearing football boots, which would be more grippy. We waited a while until the race started and while we did there were a lot of worms coming out of the ground. Then the race began and we were off to a great start but we realized it was going to be really hard. It was very slippery, so we had to jog when we were on the mud so we wouldn’t fall. The team were doing a great job, not just running but also looking out for each other. Emily got stuck and hurt her ankle, which ended up being a painful situation. However, Katie was really kind and ran back to help her jog her way uphill.
It was a fierce competition. Some people were finishing when others were just starting are 2nd lap. In the end, Katie came 38th, Emily 37th, Jesse 36th, Mayowa 34th, Grace 33rd, Demi 32nd, Quinn 29th, Rosie 17th, Beatrix 16th, Hetty 15th and Reuben came 9th. Despite the cold weather and mud, we ran 2 laps around Buckingham Park! Reuben has qualified for the next round and, in the team competition, we were only 9 points away from getting through. Quinn is already asking when we can do it again!
MAUREEN ASHLEY – IN OUR THOUGHTS
Maureen was a Governor at the school for a number of years and has always been incredibly supportive of the vision we have for the school and the direction we are heading in. Sadly, she passed away last weekend. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
DIXIE
Finally, a goodbye message to Dixie who, after 16 years, is leaving us for pastures new. She’s had a fantastic final week and will be greatly missed. Good luck Dixie.
