Weekend Blog – Cake, Cake and More Cake

Hello everyone.

Well done to Aria, Grace, Maxine, Lola, Poppy, Jim, Jenny, Felix, Sonny, Lincoln, Arthur and Alice on receiving Gold Awards for five mentions in the Log Book.

A special mention to Maisie who achieved a Gold Award but is leaving us for Canada. Good luck Maisie and family. Today is actually Canada Day – formerly known as Dominion Day. Perfect timing.

Congratulations to Albert on receiving an Oscar. Albert has had a fantastic year. He has made great progress and is a very talented footballer, basketball player and percussionist. Albert is so kind and caring, not only in school, but also at home. Well done Albert, we are very proud of you.

The class with the best attendance this week was Dolphins Class with an attendance figure of 99.4%.

Minnows

Thank you to the parents (and children) who helped paint the Minnow’s fence and move the bug hotel and vegetable planter from the other side of the school. Caz Thomas is working so hard to create purposeful learning areas for the Minnows. The whole area has transformed so much over the last 18 months……..and there’s still more to come!

Learning highlights this week.

Ocean Class have been looking at ratio, cost, profit and loss as part of their maths focus. They decided to arrange a cake sale that included costing out the ingredients, designing and making the packaging, baking the cakes and deciding on the price. They did this independently and raised over £200 to go towards our library. With the money, they intend donating a book each that will hopefully move into our new library when we achieve enough money to make it happen. Well done Year 6.

Books

Thank you to Tim Martin and the local Amphibian and Reptile Conservation group (ARC) who kindly donated copies of the book ‘In Search of Old Uncle Blue’. The books are currently in our library for children to borrow and read. The illustrations are stunning.

Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5km

And finally, a huge well done to Theo and Ollie for completing the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5km last Saturday. They raised £375 for Cancer Research in the process. A special well done to Ollie who won the whole race!

I will leave you with one of the songs from the forthcoming Year 6 production of ‘Jonah’.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
