Weekend Blog – Wet Wet Wet

Hello everyone.

I hope you are coping okay in this heat.

We certainly called it right yesterday by involving the children in a water themed sports day. The children had a splashing time. Thank you to the many parents who came along to support. A special thank you to the Year 6 pupils who ensured the activities ran smoothly. Here are a few photographs of the fun:

Gold Award

Well done to Mia on receiving a Gold Award for five mentions in the Log Book.

Attendance

Last week Dolphins Class won the best attendance and chose Jasmine:

monkey 7.7.23

The class with the best attendance this week was Coral Class with an attendance figure of 98.3%.

Learning highlights this week.

Mrs Bennett has been sharing her science expertise across the school and last week she was in Minnows exploring mini beasts and their habitats as part of their STEM sessions this half term. They investigated the tensile strength of spider’s web using strands of dry spaghetti, testing one strand, then five, ten, thirty strands and finally 150 strands.

Year 5 Rampion Wind Farm Tour

As part of their Climate Change Learning Journey and Science learning, Coral class visited Rampion Offshore wind Farm visitor centre on Wednesday. They took part in a hands on workshop measuring how much electricity was generated by using a different amount of blades of a wind turbine. They also had the opportunity to experience a Virtual Reality adventure, detailing the journey out to the turbines and travelling up one! Both adults and children enjoyed this immensely! The children had a great time and learnt so much.

Year 3 Beach trip

Year 3 enjoyed their trip to the beach and created Andy Goldsworthy inspired art. Mrs Ayres also enjoyed it!

Knitting Club

Knitting club have been at it again. This time they have decorated a post box with knitted minibeasts.

Jonah

On Wednesday and Thursday next week, Year 6 will be performing their end of year production. This year it is the musical play ‘Jonah’. It’s a whale of a tale. I hope you’ve got your tickets. Good luck to Year 6.

And finally, thank you to Libby Ayres (BHASVIC Student) who spent three days with us this week and was fabulous with the children. Thank you Libby. You have a great future ahead of you if you decide to work with children.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
