Weekend Blog 25.11.23 – It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Hello everyone.

I hope you are well and keeping warm on this beautiful (but chilly) Saturday morning.

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly. A bit of a mad one but a lovely way to end the week.

Thank you to the Staff Christmas Elves who were busy on Friday evening making the school look festive. Can you spot which tree is in your classroom?

Congratulations to Jared who was presented with a Gold Award. Jared was the first pupil to achieve one last year and the first person this year. Well done Jared.

Congratulations also to Logan in Ocean Class who was presented with an Oscar in yesterday’s assembly. Logan is a very talented musician, a stunning mathematician and a lovely pupil. He is so enthusiastic about learning and always has something thoughtful to contribute in class discussions. Well done Logan.

Golden Ticketers this week were: Alicija (Minnows), India and Natasha (Seashells), Indie and Millie (Starfish), Sofia and Bodhi (Dolphins), Riley and Ella (Lighthouse), Grace and Hetty (Coral) and Somma-Fei and Ethan (Ocean)

Attendance Matters

The class with the best attendance this week is Coral Class with an amazing attendance figure of 99.1%.

Operation Christmas Child

This year we supported ‘Operation Christmas Child’ – run by Samaritans Purse. Thank you so much to the families and staff who made a Christmas shoe box for the charity. They were all packed into large boxes ready to be sent off to children all over the world. A big thank you to Miss Mann for organising the collection of the shoe boxes.

It’s Showtime

Last Sunday, Felix, Reuben, Ben, Harvey, Seren and Flo all took part in the Ariel Drama Academy showcase. It was at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley in front of an audience of around 300 people. They sang, danced and acted. Their dedication to rehearsals really paid off. All had their own lines which they bravely delivered. Well done you five!

Year 5 Netball

On Thursday, Year 5 netballers went to Shoreham College to play a couple of games of High 5 Netball. Thank you to Mrs Shukla and Gemma Windham for making sure the children had a fantastic time representing the school.

Christmas Tree Competition

Make sure you pop along to St Mary de Haura (1st – 3rd December) to see the Christmas tree festival and vote for the Shoreham Beach Primary School Christmas Tree. Our knitting club children have knitted the decorations. Thank you to Mrs Loftus  and her team.

Tombola Dress Down Day

Friday 1st December will be a non-uniform day with children invited to dress down in exchange for a tombola prize for the Christmas Fair. Thank you to Nick Williams at Oakley Property for helping to promote the Fair and donating £250?

PTFA Raffle

A HUGE thank you from the PTFA to all of the parents and local businesses who have donated 32(!!) amazing auction lots. Take a look for Christmas gifts and days out in the school holiday and bargains to be had. Just follow the link below and head to ‘shop’ then ‘events & tickets’ in the menu. If you’ve not used it before, the platform we are using is the one you’ll need anyway for all ticketed PTA events and just takes a second to register. Feel free to bid on behalf of any friends/neighbours/family members too.
There are raffle tickets available for the hampers on the same link. There are 7 amazing hampers in total, thanks to your donations and each entry costs £3. When you’ve checked out the auction, simply pick ‘uniform & merchandise’ in the shop menu and you’ll find them.
For those who prefer to buy raffle tickets the old fashioned way – don’t worry, paper tickets will be available at the fair.
The auction and raffle will run until Monday December 11th at 9.30 and the draw will take place at 10am. All winning bids and hamper winners will be contacted then. Good luck!

Looking ahead…….we have the KS2 Christmas Selection Box performances on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th December. We also have Christmas Jumper Day with Christmas dinner, music and crackers on Wednesday 6th December. We also have a Christmas Breakout Afternoon on Friday 8th December where every pupil will be involved in a Christmas related activity. And don’t forget to book your tickets for the KS1 Christmas production ‘Straw and Order’ which is due to be performed on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th December.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
