Weekend Blog 02.12.23 – A Gymnastics Masterclass

Hello everyone.

I hope you are well.

Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who joined us for our Funky Friday Assembly. I think we all agree it is a colourful and fun way to end the week. Izzy certainly thinks so. This is a picture she produced last year and her mum wanted us to see it. The music is represented by the rainbow stripes and the love hearts are apparently “wiggling out of the happy children!”. Thank you Izzy.

Congratulations to Rosa and Tasha who were each presented with a Gold Award for five mentions in the Log Book.

Congratulations also to Tom in Lighthouse Class and Lily in Starfish Class who were presented with an Oscar in yesterday’s assembly. Maz and Natascha in our school kitchen nominated both of them for being so polite every day and having excellent table manners. They always say please and thank you, never make a mess with their food and are just lovely. Well done Tom and Lily.

Golden Ticketers this week were: Aurelia, Ollie and Eliza (Minnows), Axel and Maxi (Seashells), Lawrie and Didi (Starfish), Sonny  (Dolphins), Ronnie and Sonny (Lighthouse), Jesse and Ronnie (Coral) and Flo and Darcey (Ocean)

Attendance Matters

The class with the best attendance this week is Dolphins Class with an attendance figure of 98.9%.  They have chosen to have Jazmine for the week.

RNLI Visit to Year 5

Coral were due to visit Shoreham lifeboat station this week but unfortunately our trip had to be cancelled due to lifeboat station repairs. Andy Morgan from the RNLI came to visit instead. The children learnt lots of new facts and were able to show off their knowledge of lifeboats – thanks to our Mary Stanford learning journey.  A very enjoyable morning, dressing up was a highlight, Cassius had 90 seconds to put the whole uniform on.

Year 5 Gymnastics

Congratulations to our fantastic Year 5 & 6 Gymnastics team who came first this week in a competition at Shoreham Academy. Check out the video below. It is stunning! The only thing to raise it to the next level is having a headteacher running around with a butterfly net in his hand!

Christmas Breakout Afternoon

On Friday 8th December, every child will be involved in a Christmas activity as part of our Breakout Afternoon. Children from Reception to Year 6 will have the opportunity to spend some time together and produce something lovely for Christmas.

Christmas Tree Competition

Make sure you pop along to St Mary de Haura this weekend to see the Christmas tree festival and vote for the Shoreham Beach Primary School Christmas Tree. Our knitting club children have knitted the decorations. Thank you to Mrs Loftus and Mrs Train for decorating the tree so superbly.

Goodbye to Tania

As you may know, Mrs Pascoe will be starting a teaching job after Christmas so she will no longer be able to volunteer in Minnow class. We have been so grateful to have Mrs Pascoe with us and we will miss her dearly! Good luck Tania.

Goodbye to Debbie

It was Debbie Train’s last day yesterday. Debbie has been at the school for over 21 years and will be greatly missed. Good luck Debbie with whatever is waiting for you around the corner.

Tomorrow’s Orchestra

Bonnie Walker (Year 6) has been taking part in the Tomorrow’s Orchestra Programme, and on Saturday 2nd December she will be performing in the West Sussex Music Winter Concert at Worthing Assembly Hall. She has completed a year of instrumental lessons and taken part in weekly orchestra rehearsals. We are very proud of her achievements.
