Weekend Blog 09.12.23 – A Christmas Selection Box

Hello everyone.

The children are certainly getting into the Christmas spirit and it was lovely to see them in their Christmas jumpers this week. Here is a little overview of what we’ve been up to at Shoreham Beach Primary.

Attendance Matters

Last week, Dolphins Class had the best attendance and chose to have Jazmine for the week. Can you spot her amongst the many Christmas Jumpers?

KS2 Christmas Selection Box

On Tuesday, KS2 performed a range of songs, instrumentals and readings to the rest of the school. They then repeated it to parents on Wednesday and Thursday. The performances were beautiful (with much fun and laughter on Thursday as a result of technical problems).

Year 6 Netball

Congratulations to our very talented Year 6 netball team who played their first league match this week and beat Holmbush Primary School 22-3.

New Hall Tables

As we continue to improve the look and feel of the school, the children now have new lunchtime tables to sit at in the hall. They arrived just in time for the Christmas lunch. Oh the excitement!

Christmas Lunch

Wednesday saw lots of festive cheer in the hall as the children ate their Christmas lunch whilst pulling crackers and listening to Christmas songs. Oh, the excitement. To quote a group of children (and a member of staff) “This is the best school Christmas dinner we have ever had!” Thank you to the staff for being part of the occasion and making sure children enjoyed themselves.

Christmas Breakout Afternoon

On Friday, every child was involved in a Christmas Breakout activity. These included producing stained glass jars, salt dough decorations, baking biscuits and cakes, making Christmas videos, pop-up cards, advent calendars, paper decorations and creating Funky Christmas ties

Keeping Children Safe Online This Christmas

In the run up to Christmas, please stay safe.

Soo Bahk Do

Iris, Maxine and Jenny all had their Soo Bahk Do grading at the Scriven Martial Arts dojo in Seaford last weekend. (It’s the Korean version of karate).
Jenny reached 5th Geup (green belt one tag)
Iris and Maxine 4th Geup (green belt double tag)
1st Geup is the last level before the equivalent of Black Belt, which is Midnight Blue belt…

Well done to all three of you.

Maisie and the Willowfants

Congratulations to Suzie Aiken (Nala and Effie’s nanny) who has just had her first book published. It is called ‘Maisie and the Willowfants’. Suzie kindly donated a copy for our library and she has also offered to come in and read the book to Minnows Class.
